On my latest Econversion with a 190RPM Tongxin in a 26" rim I was amazed at how long the wheel continued to spin either when power is removed or after spinning by hand. This particular one seems to most free wheeling of all the Tongxins I have tried. All my others are in 16" rims which may of course be why this one in a 26" rim seems to spin so much more freely.

I know this not be the most valid of test but I was really surprised how well it continued to spin unassisted. I will post some video of it later.

I have asked Dapu for an explanation re the very low drag on their motor and whether it increases with speed, I imagine it must do. I will report back.

Do Dapu motors address the issue which NRG raised earlier in this thread

"The big issue with the !!!!!!! motors is the permanently engaged satellite wheels, the clutch only disengages the drive planet wheel.

I'd like to see the internals of the Daahub to see what system they use for drive as this will be key in lowering drag and improving the riding experience."

Due to unforeseen circumstances I could not get the DaaHub kit on Monday...I hope to have it today, so watch this space or I will probably start a fresh thread. Unfortunately due to health issues I could not be present with camera at hand to catalogue build, but will take some pictures and have a test ride before posting again.

Anything I could do would not be as good as Anthonys video of fittingt kit on the Wisper blog?

I have had a ride on Davids pre production (with not as good motor) DaaHub and I liked it very much. maybe not as much grunt as the bigger battery bikes but on a proper light weight bike a very nice ride indeed....so just a bit longer to wait!lol

Is the daahub a different motor to the one used on the 906? I thought it was the same. If it is the same then pop down to a Wisper dealer and try the motor out for drag by riding it on the flat without power. From my experience it is better than the Bafung but not as good as the Tongxin and perfectly acceptable a motor for an electric bike. No motor exibits no drag but the Tongxin comes pretty close.

Yes good expression "exibits" no drag.

Despite all our ( me included lol) pontification and posting of freewheeling videos under no load, at the end of the day as you say Harry, the best test is to ride one and decide for yourself.

PS Damn I am geting old and muddling up threads. It confusing we seem to be having simlar conversations crossing several threads lol

Harry is right motor identical in 906 and DaaHub kit....but it is not going to have quite as much grunt, as the battery is 9Ah and the 906 16Ah. But then if donor bike is a lot lighter this should compensate.. the pre production bike I tried recently went very well! but production model has a more powerful controller

UPDATE:

bike on the way but its going to be tight putting any info or picture up tonight...maybe later. It is my daughters birthday and have an early evening dinner appointment so that she can go party afterwards!..

David has told be it is faster than any other Wisper bike! He is really surprised by this compared to his pre production bike. This he thinks is down to the latest controller....

Hi Guys, I can confirm the motor is the same model as last year's Alpinos and 906xc but improved, we have also made changes and improvements to the controller.

The Dapu motor is certainly the best I have tried for low drag, Anthony tells me it is better even than to Toxin however as Harry says, it's best to try yourselves!
