Probably. It depends whether they're genuine ones. Also, there are lots of different 18650s made by Samsung, so it depends what you mean by good. Some have high power, some have high capacity and some have long life, but you can't have more than one of those characteristics at the same time, so you have to choose which type gives the best compromise of your requirements.

The cell in question will be 29E 4s 13p, not a good config for 29E. I deally better off with them in at least 5 or 6p.

I am just trying to find my feet with batteries so please bear with me. This is the battery that I have at the moment and it works well for me. What is the configuration and current rating?
Who is the cell manufacturer?
Thanks.

That battery is made up with Panasonic PF cells, 2900mah per cell and a proper 10a rated cells there are several very good cells around and they are one the dogs do dahs when it comes to cells. The capacity rating though under independent testing is nearer 2700mah and 5a continuous to get the best use out of them, so a 20- 25a max discharge is a happier place for them to be in. At 10a you won't get near the rated capacity and is the case for all cells.

The battery is 48v 13s4p ( 52 cells), 4 cells in parallel x 13 in series & capacity is 11.6ah/557wh.
Possible battery rating of 40a max discharge if the nickel strips are up to it, though ultimately the discharge is whatever the BMS allows.

A battery like that would give me about 61 miles range.
I use Panasonic PF's and have 4 battery packs made up with them.
There are harder hitting cells out there with more amps & capacity but for the money these are one's you can't beat in the 2900mah range.

With batteries you can't have your cake and eat it, with these size batteries you can't have both the max capacity and the max amperage out of them it is a compromise so you have sacrifice one or the other. That said for most of us who use controllers of less then 25a can invariably get good range from a battery by using low power assist levels, so PAS 1 or 2 or Eco on other bikes and save high assist level temporarily just to boost for inclines.

Its a 13S4P battery using Samsung 2900PF cells.

There are two things to look out for. the first is how much current the cells can give. the second is how much current the BMS can give.

Here's some test data for the cells.

They're rated at 8.25A maximum current, but for ebike use, I always divide that by two, so a 4P battery is good for 16.5 amps. I think 20A would be OK for a battery with those cells, but the battery in your link gave a max current of 20 amps for a short time. We have to assume that it was because that was the limit from the BMS. The limit is dependent on the number and quality of the MOSFETS in the discharge switch. If you go over their rating, they overheat and blow.

Thanks for your help.
Are these the cells?

This is the same case I believe. I already have the base with integrated controller.

Don't forget import fees etc,etc as they are hazardous cargo, if the seller mis- labels or doesn't declare them they could be confiscated by customs if opened.
You can buy genuine and cheaper from Nkon NL.

Best to wait until you get the layout sorted then see what space you have left over and then buy a BMS to suit. You can get bms with switch wires but unlikely to get a usb connection.
This one is 20a continuous discharge but will have over discharge on it , typically 40- 55a or so , 20a continuous is usually enough for most 36v or 48v set ups with 20a controller.

Yes it is if building your own, no where comes close to price.
I have used them a few times door to door is 4 days and reliable.

Don't know why I linked the 36v one as you are after 48v, what an ejit.
As I mentioned you will have to see what space is available with 52 cells inside.

How you going to connect the cells ?
Spot welding is the only way to go tbh. Plus you will need ring insulators for the v+ ends of cells and pure nickel capable of 10a for the series connection.

Building yourself is never going to be cheaper than a ready-made battery unless you're going to build several. Do you have a spot-welder? If not, you need to factor in the cost. Remember that it only takes one balance wire to wear through or short out on a cell to set your house on fire.
