No thermistor is needed John, they are only to protect against over-voltage charging with NiMh.

Your charger will be ok for the individual batteries only if it's one intended for SLA charging, otherwise I can't say on the information you've given, but it seems a bit inadequate for such a high capacity charging need as that whole assembly of packs. The charge would take a very long time indeed.

Tony Castles at Elecrodrive, 07974-723996 may be able to help with a suitable charger as he supplies some for his kits with SLAs.

Hi Mr Grumpy,

Your pack will be 30Ah not 45. A safe, slow charge is 0.1C so in this case 3A.
1.8A will be a bit slow; 20 - 24h to fully recharge from empty. You may want to consider a charger that can comfortably provide 5A continuously. If you're into homebrew, get yourself a 5A variac and bridge rectifier. You can pick these up cheap surplus sometimes eg ebay.
