I can't find a previous thread.
Looks good and high tech but the 22kg weight tells a different story, it's only 4kg lighter than a 906 and that's probably due to the much smaller battery. I hope it's better than MB's previous ebikes but I'm not holding my breath.

Strange the way everyone wants to re-invent the bicycle at the same time as adding electric assist. rear hub motor, 250w, 36v-9.6Ahr is unexceptional. But then we have to have weird frame shape, rubber belt drive, weird wheels, plug in Android (or is it iPhone?) phone controller, headlights built into handlebars, no mudguards. And then given the brand name, you have to wonder about the price.

Um. Well conventional chains and derraileurs are pretty nasty from an engineering point of view. And they do leave oil stains on your trousers. But they are simple, cheap, efficient and give a wide range of ratios.

I completely agree, design by marketing department one suspects, anything to attract attention.

Price will certainly be steep, but it's good to see the rapid expansion in e-bike choice and famous names like Bosch, Siemens, Telefunken, Volkswagen, Shimano etc entering or re-entering the market. Names like those make the wider public sit up and take notice and that attention-seeking contribution is probably more important for our movement than any designs they produce at present.

I see the 9.6Ah BMZ batteries are quite compact on the Smart which demonstrates how an 18Ah version will easily fit onto existing Kalkhoffs.
