Brilliant! shame no pics or more detail...But being designed in Switzerland gives us hope.

it would be nice it they adopted the Swiss drive motor as used by Stork, green mover etc...as it is supposed to be a really special drive. Both near silent and powerful

here is a video of one of the Bulls bikes (there are many):

I rode a Storck Raddar and I didn't notice the specially powerful and silent drive. It was no different to any of the others and in a blindfold test, I'd be surprised if you would notice the difference.

Thanks for that. the stork is 26 v and bikes I'm talking about 36 v with a range of batteries. I thought video showed that it shifted and was quiet. its just that I have read it is near silent and quieter then the Bosch. Its just that this was looking like real development in hub motor bikes and lots seem to be using the motor. So maybe, maybe not, will have to wait and see.

My apologies to Tony for taking his thread of course, as we have no idea what specialized are using...maybe they saw my DaaHub!lol

I've ridden a lot of ready-made ebikes, and, of course, they're all limited to 15mph and about 15 amps, so they all have the same top speed and pulling/climbing power. A couple of the cheaper ones were limited to about 12 amps, so they felt gutless, although a shunt mod easily got them up to 15amps, and then they were the same. The only one that felt a lot more powerful was the Haibike, which had a lot more climbing power and fast acceleration. I'm quite suspicious of how they got it rated as low as 250w. I have also tried a couple of Emotion Panasonics, and I found them a disaster when it came to hill climbing otherwise they were the same as the rest. Some Bafang motors made a bit more noise under power, but the rest were all about the same.

According to the ebikes.ca simulator 40nm is more or less comparable with an eZee motor running 20amps battery current so I'd expect it to pull well. In theory it should be quieter as well being a direct drive type but you never know...

5.6kg for a 250w motor with no internal gears or free-wheel!

I'm guessing that it's designed for a lot more power and then restricted by its internal controller, so where's the advantage over a Bafang other than that you can fit a cassette? I expect that it'll cost about five times the price.
