I am sure if you saw a well known sportsman riding one it might help change attitudes to electric bikes and create a wider audience.
Maybe not Lance Armstrong though?
Seriously, not sure how much this helps though. Formula 1 drivers and staff have for years used all sorts of light two-wheeled EVs around the paddock and course areas, and this has include e-bikes during at least one season when all the Toyota F1 team staff and drivers used them around the paddocks and circuit areas. It made so little impact that even I can't remember what make e-bikes they were using! I think it was Panasonic, but can't be absolutely certain.
Even F1 broadcasters and drivers have been seen by millions on international TV riding two-wheeled EVs around the tracks to explain each circuit's features, but once again I couldn't tell you what any of them were.
I think e-bikes used by known community figures like your vicar plus local doctors and teachers will be far more effective in spreading the message.
