Hi

Following on from my previous thread in identifying a rear hub.

I have a few missing spokes.

I removed one to measure it.

Can someone please confirm the correct length I need? Thickness?
Nipple size?

Where to get them from?

I have no clue about spokes. I know they are j bend and have a “s” stamped on the end.

I measured at 272mm am i right?

Remove the nipple and measure from the end of the thread to the inside of the J, measure the dia they will be 2.2mm 13g or 2mm 14g though it is highly likely they will be the 13g.
The S could be the Sapim mark ?
Use Spokesfromryan, service has always been good from my experience.

Just an update!

I ordered the spokes.

I ordered a cheap caliper of ebay which gives a reading of 2.2mm on the old spokes and 2.3mm on the new spokes. However i also have a problem where the new nipples will not fit in the wheel. The new nipples are bigger in diameter than the old nipples. BTW the length was correct.

What have i measured wrong?

2.2/2.3mm is 13g, one assumes the incorrect nipples were ordered in error ?

It might be that you rims use 14g reduction nipples and have a smaller dia.
Measure an old nipple against the new ones.

Old nipple 4.3mm
New nipple 4.8mm
If the rim does not have eyelets, you can drill (5mm) or file the hole a little bigger. It would of been great if you had the exact replacement, as you can often replace the spoke without even deflating or removing the tyre (or the wheel with v brakes) by reusing the old nipple.
