went for a ride today and felt a clicking from the left pedal, everything seemed ok,nothing loose so i carried on.Whilst setting off from a roundabout i found out that the strange clicking was a bit more terminal. The chain was dangling down onto the road......One of the links had completely sheared off. Only 23 miles from the 1000 mile mark, and worse still i was 15 miles from home. The misses was non to please at playing mrs AA recovery woman,
So another of the must have repair parts you should always carry is a link remover and spare link...which i am now kitted out for on future rides. Now imagaine if i had an 18a battery and was 50 miles from home....

Such an early failure is unusual, but of course the chain on these carries both the motor and rider power so works much harder than on an unpowered bike.

That said, club riders often carry those parts so on-road failures are to be expected at times.
