Order received this morning at 11.55, processed and delivered by bike to the customer 25 minutes later:)

OK, it was for a set of Torque Plates and the customer lives just 2.5 miles away, but is this fastest delivery?

If I had posted them, because of the Easter holiday they wouldn't have been delivered until Tuesday.

Standard or Express delivery charges applied? ;)

Joking aside, great personal service.

I think I can beat that. A guy knocked on my door and wanted his scrap battery fixed. He took delivery of his new battery within 30 seconds, and what's more, it didn't cost him a penny.

He had asked me to check his battery. When I tried it on my charger, I said, "No charge". Damn! As you know, I always keep my word.

Ha, to do it in 30 seconds you must have been standing behind the door with the battery in your hand.

You sound just like a guy that I used to work with, when asked how long it would take to do something the answer was always 5 minutes, it would then take a couple of hours to rectify all the faults:rolleyes:

Next record to set is the courier delivery one, here's the one to beat.

Ordered online a computer item from Dabs at Bolton, Lancashire with checkout at 8.30pm.

The next morning i was signing for it on my Surrey/London borders doorstep at exactly 7.25am.

Somehow that had been processed and packaged in the evening, transfered from Dabs to the courier's Bolton centre, sorted and transfered to a truck and driven to the national distribution centre, sorted and transfered by truck to the Croydon centre, then sorted and transfered to the area delivery van and finally driven to me. All in 10 hours 55 minutes!

With that efficiency we should have these guys running the civil service. Or maybe the NHS? ;)

Yes that is a superfast service Flecc, I have had similiar delivery times from Amazon.

We can send parcels by UK Mail as late as 8pm on weekdays if we take them to the depot and they will be delivered next day including Saturdays:)

On the other hand I have been waiting a week for Parcelforce to deliver a parcel to me that should have take 48 hours:(

Oh yes, haven't we all suffered that!

If Parcelforce was a truly independent private business. I'm sure it would have gone broke well before Citylink did.

I've got to the point where I won't use suppliers who I know use Parcelforce.

You're nearly correct as far as the first bit. I keep most of my spare batteries in my porch along with my main bike and chargers. He told me his battery wouldn't charge, so I plugged in the charger, which stayed green, then I picked up the spare battery and gave it to him. I had been given a pallet of those frog batteries for nothing by a very nice man, so I had plenty more - not that I have a use for that type anyway.

Your second statement is not true. I hate to let people down, so I wouldn't do that.

but when we had a civil service running a post office it was overnight delivery. Now bits are privatised and staff cuts etc it don't work any longer. Cue we need to privatise to fix it. Then more money in someone's pocket!
Ps I have never been a postman or affiliated.

True, though in my experience it never matched the services of the best private couriers.

Parcel collected by UK Mail from MK Friday 20/03/2015, delivered to Falmouth, Cornwall Saturday am 21/03/2015;)
Agreed Fleccs private can be excelent. But then not to ... As Post office did.
It was one rate and quick even for the less profitable areas.

86% of the population live in towns and cities and much of the rest are nearby those locations. So for the vast majority, the private services were always superior. If I lived in a remote spot I wouldn't expect an overnight service, and the Post Office providing that did so at a huge loss for many years at the expense of us all.

Ah but now you are in the hands of the Spanish postal services.
DHL are useful for door to door international for one contract service.
