The Pilgrims Way by eBike - Review of the Haibike FS AMT 26

Hi Guys,

The stories just keep coming in! Here is a great little read about a customer on the Pilgrims Way on his new Haibike electric bike & eBikes in general for that matter!..

Small snippet -
A lot of cyclists don’t realise what the Haibike is and a few that do, don’t understand how good they are, or say it’s cheating; most are in oblivious ignorance. All I know is I’m probably having more fun and enjoyment than they are on their unpowered bikes
Full Story Here.

Regards
Martin

Quite a fair revue - apart from the old chestnut about hub-drive only being good for a range of15 miles, whilst the crank-drive gives 40.

Agreed, rider reviews are very subjective, but that's stretching credibility like frayed knicker elastic.

Hi JackHandy,

He is obviously referring to his own hub drive eBikes here compared to his new crank drive.. In his own terrain and riding style.

Thanks for reading :)

"Martin at e-bikeshop suggested I try the next model up."

Martin upselling?

Surely not.

That's funny. I was thinking exactly the same. Maybe his battery was faulty.

But true for many from past experience. Two e-bikes owned by me at the same time and ridden by me in the same area on the same journeys:

Crank unit = 7.8Wh per mile average

Hub motor = 24.6Wh per mile average

Of course the way they worked was completely different. The crank drive unit forced me to do more and assisted to about 14 mph, the hub motor was throttle controlled and assisted to 22 mph.

Comparing the two on a hub motor v crank drive basis is invalid,

Another good read.

Dinging your dingybell at walkers gets varied response when you're on shared tracks - Some ignore the bell & try to make you get off, others glare at you as you go by & some even thank you for your courtesy.

They all get a cheery "thank you" just the same - speshly the equestrians, who are almost always friendly.

I notice that tinkling the bell well before you reach walkers generally results in it being accepted more favourably than leaving it until you're close behind. And of course a polite thankyou also goes down well.
