There's always something with a bike

Seems to me there's always something that needs fettling on a bike.

The AVE started to rattle during my short ride earlier.

It took me a minute or two to work out the prop stand had come loose, slid back along the chainstay and was fouling the disc rotor.

Fortunately, I attended to it before any damage was done.

Pleased I always carry a multi-tool, but once again I've fallen down on my fixing tightness checks.

On the bright side, the Bosch motor managed another 15 miles without conking out.

My current bike always needs something doing to it.
Its a Trax TS01 which was £100 from Halfords so not surprising really.
After sticking the Dillenger 1000 watt kit on I found the brakes were not interested in stopping it, to the point where putting my foot on the ground was better than using the brakes !
£40 later I had a pair of Clarks hydraulic brakes fitted that can lock the wheels if required!
Next the front wheel(with the motor in) started creaking, but a quick tightening of the spokes fixed that (its been done another twice in the last 500 miles as well).
Next problem was a puncture caused by a road chipping(luckily only 200 yards from home) Unluckily at the bottom of a 15% hill.
Now got a pair of puncture resistant tyres on along with a pair of slime filled tubes and I also carry a foam aerosol can and a hand pump,
The gears both front and back became very hit and miss but a few slight screw adjustments and a tightening of the front cable seems to have got them changing almost perfectly.
Last week after travelling down the steepest local hill I noticed extra drag going up the other side so pulled over to see the rear disc was turning a lovely shade of blue!
I managed to free it off a bit using the battery key and rode the 3 miles to a friends house slowly.
A quick adjustment with a 3mm allen key and all was well again.
I have tightened the front spokes up again today(only 3 were slack) and all seems ok currently although my pedelec sensor has not worked for the last month.
This is probably a controller fault but Dillenger are sending me a new controller and sensor so hopefully by the middle of next week all will be well.

I am picking up an Apollo Evade MTB in the morning from Halfords and going to put a BBS02 750 watt kit on it so no doubt there will be LOTs to do to that in the next few weeks!!!!!!
Also thanks to DV8EH I have just ordered a 250 watt motor which \i am going to try and put in my chinese scooter sometime in the next few weeks.

My scooter is the same as the above photo apart from the mirrors are slightly different.
I would love to put a 1000 watt motor in it but dont have the engineering skills.
Anyone fancy helping out?

I was out on my Trax bike last night. Mileage is now approximately 500 miles on it. Since I built it, I've only had to do one essential maintenance task on it. That was to grease the motor because it hadn't been done well by the factory. The only other thing I've done to it is change the saddle to a Brooks one for comfort. Nothing has needed adjusting so far. Before I started with it, I replaced the BB and brakes. It had been well abused before I got it

You should be able to get a lot more power out of it if you simply upgrade the battery voltage and the controller. If it's 36v, go to 48v. If it's already 48v, try 60v.

I upped the voltage from 36 to 48 (lead acid) and it upped the speed a bit but it has virtually no power and wont move at all on even the slightest incline.
I wonder what would happen if I put my Dillenger 28 amp controller and battery on it?
New controller coming this week so the old one will be a spare then.

I have 2 gel covers on my Trax seat but its still painful after a few miles.
This is due mainly to my dodgy spine though.
I bought one of those air saddles from Lidl last week and it will be going on the Apollo later today.

Is it worth converting a scooter to 750/1000 W? By the time you've bought the motor etc, possibly upgraded the brakes, registered it with DVLA, insured it, bought a motor cycle helmet etc, wouldn't it be cheaper just to buy a petrol scooter?
