This may be in the wrong section but I'm not really sure where to place it.
As some of you will know I'll soon be the proud owner of a Woosh Santana and a Big Bear. The bike rack on my motorhome will be at its limit, but even with ordinary bikes every time I don't notice a French sleeping policeman the nasty bump makes it feel as though the bike rack is going to rip itself of the back wall of the campervan.
I am having a towbar fitted in two weeks so that I can use a Thule Europower 916 bike rack. This is designed for two heavy e-bikes and has a capacity of two x 30kg and of course being much lower it will be easier to load the bikes on it.
In my ignorance I'd always thought that these racks were bolted onto the towbar in place of the towball but as I'm sure all you clever folk know they clamp onto the tow bar.
How safe are they? In order to stop the rack slipping with two heavy bikes on it the force of the clamp on the towball must be terrific. How do these things work and does anyone have any experience of the Thule racks? It's not cheap but it seems to be a superb product.
