Big fan of the eccentric myself but that pic of the Cybien is just not doing it for me.
A bit too French!

Their designs can be a bit odd, but apparently it works well. It's certainly an original drive system, I believe he
gets the drive motors from the USA. It would look a lot neater if the motors sat alongside the wheel, the other
way up, but it would be difficult to arrange the automatic 15 mph disengagement then.

Just like those dynamos, in the old days, which I also hated. And they were smaller. I agree about the battery. Also the water bottle on the top bar looks off.
Yeah far too French Monsieur Flecc..:D

I saw this kit in South Korea installed on a bike in a bikeshop. It took me about 30 seconds before the penny dropped that it was electrified. Considering I was standing right next to it, that should give you some idea of how small this is.

Çõ½ÅÀûÀÎ ¾ÆÀ̵ð¾î ±â¾÷ - HiddenPower

No good image there, but you can get the idea. A RC style motor roughly the size of a small salami, (4cm*10cm) connected to some electronics and a small battery under the top tube on the frame. The battery was roughly the same width as the frame. A handlebar cable operated clutch to engage and release the steel roller.

Downsides I could see were exposed electronic circuit boards (possibly this was an early prototype) and extra wear on the sidewall of the tire. Also the non standard battery would be tricky to replace.

I'm pretty sure that this was installed on the owners own bike.

Hi OneWay

I can't make much sense of that Korean WEB page but the system looks rather similar to the American Gruber assist:

Gruber Antrieb - Gruber Assist - Fahrradantriebe » Spot GRUBER Assist

The Gruber is rather expensive and doesn't provide much power. Neat idea though.

Hi Flecc

No idea who I'll be voting for at the moment. I suspect it's something I have in common with most of the UK population.
Just to add I'm not a Francophobe or even a Europhobe. One country in Europe has such a strong reputation for good design and it's not our friends in France. I'm off for a Pizza. Arrivederci...

I didn't think you were, just teasing. :)

As well as the design flair, I admire their easy going attitude to laws. It could even be said they aren't really in
the EU for all the notice they take of regulations.
