Hi
I bought a foot pump but had problems getting tires up to recommended pressures.
So I bought a pressure gauge to check against foot pump gauge in case foot pump was giving false reading.
I must be doing something silly because when I connect the pressure gauge all that happens is the air is let out of my tires.
What am I missing?

Thanks
PS
Is it Ty or Ti for round rubber things

Depending on which type of valve you have presta,Schrader or woods, guessing car type, you need to press firmly to the valve so it engages the pin, then release to obtain the reading, some you need to hold on to read gauge then release, there will always be some loss of pressure.
Regards ty or to depends if your from the new world or not, in the mother country we say tyre!

You aren't using a Schrader (car type valve) pump and gauge on a Presta valve by any chance?
No problem if that's the case as you can buy a Shrader to Presta adapter very cheaply.
Dave.

Hi
No it's a Schrader
Wish it was a Woods that's the type they used last time I owned a bike (nostalgia creeping in)

Niver thought of that, but I do keep an adapter with me nuts in case of incompatibility sit/reps
:eek:I should imagine that repeated sitting on the adapter could damage said nuts and make them incompatible for lots of things!

Ohhhh! Matron! The screens please!!!

Now ,I meant me spare nuts 'n' bolts & mudguard fixings, which always seem to drop off at the furthest point of a ride, just why is that?
PS me walnuts are fine, thanks for asking!
