Nice looking bike but why do manufacturers insist on fitting those dreadful Zoom forks. I have a set fitted to my Alien and there going!

I think they must be the cheapest they can get, it's so often they crop up on lower price bikes, and the Bighit is far, far cheaper than the competitors from Haibike and Flyer, well under half the price of either.

No, i dont think cheap means crap ,this is what one guy wrote about the zoom forks ,

.... Avoid the modern Zoom forks, unless you like poorly made pogo sticks. ...

There have been many adverse comments about Zoom forks on many makes of bike, few seem to have anything good to say about them. I wouldn't know personally since I've only had the briefest of tries with them and I don't like suspension anyway so I'm biased.

Zoom forks are cheap and they are crap, the only way I can adjust mine is to replace them. ;)

Oh dear, something is stirring within this eighteen-going-on-sixty-eight-year-old.

And it's all your fault scarrabri!. :)

The Bighit reminds me so much of my first two E-bikes, old ChinaBlue and the Synergie Bayamo, both heavy full-sussers, and did I have some fun on them.

Any forum members remember the Aprillia Enjoy using a similar drive?.

Anybody know of a re-hab clinic for E-bike addiction?

Yes, I do. Strange isn't it that the Aprilia and Yamaha angle drive motor e-bikes both failed in the market in favour of lower powered systems at that time around a decade ago, mostly due to people wanting lighter more bicycle-like types and not the somewhat moped-like power of those.

It seems they were perhaps before their time and that time has now arrived

What the..... who ever designed those round abouts needs shooting although it would be great to put an American in a car there and what the fun lol. We had some very similar called smallthorne round abouts they had like 5 paint ones but finally reduced it to 3 raised ones.

With regards to your suspension, think of it tis way, should it fail the bike it so reasonably priced you can simply buy a new set. Job done :) It may not be the best but it will do. Also part of it is down to experience, i have a lot of expereince of cars in my very short life of driving 12 years now. Having said that i know most cars in side and out, have raced them stripped them and built them. Therefore i know what parts/cars i would stay away from. Clearly the rule of thumb is French they build crap cars. But, some people arnt after the best car they want something that will function and will pay less for it and they fix them when it breaks. I sold my Audi A3 last year it was only a couple of years old and i was after something of the same quality as ever Vauxhall or Ford i sat in i could see the flaws straight away as i was spoilt with Audi quality before so i stuck witht he VAG group and im very happy with my car. In the past ive had metros, novas, escorts, astras all lower end cars and i have been happy with them, my point is you dont really know quality untill you own quality and even then is it really worth the price? The equiv model to my A£ in Vauxhall was the Astra, i could have bought 2 of them for what i paid for my A3. Its all fair and well saying go for this like Rock Shocks but some people are just happy with what they have and dont need the best of everything

Thanks Brian, glad you enjoyed the threads, and yes, you are spot-on regarding how E-bikes have opened up a whole new world of mini adventures to me. The simple fact is, I'm not too good at this walking thing, a couple of miles and my legs are done for. Stick me on an electric bike and I'm good for a forty mile ride. These rides take me to places where my car or legs could never reach.

Just to clarify, I've never owned an 'Aprilia Enjoy', I just posted that photo to show the origins of that particular drive system.

Your excellent video of the Tonaro Bighit was very interesting, as it gave me the opportunity to 'pause' the clip for a better view of various parts of the machine. One thing I noticed is the extra bracing on the seat-tube area of the frame. This was always a problem with earlier full-sussers when an extra battery was needed for extended rides, the additional battery carried on a seat-post carrier placing a huge strain on the seat-tube.

I'm afraid there is one thing about the Tonaro Bighit that really offends my eye, the 'cable frenzy' from the top-tube to the handlebars, that needs a little tidying with spiral wrap to prevent accidental damage to them.

Anyway Brian, thanks for your kind words about my earlier threads, they are much appreciated. I am currently in a self imposed 48 hour cooling off period before adding yet another machine to an already extensive collection of E-bikes, the outcome of which remains to be decided, and common sense will play no part in that decision.

All the best to you and yours.

Bob
