Well all I can say is wow, what a great ride, only a short venture (5KM) this morning along the seafront in Sitges, Catalunya, freezing cold, blue sky and a little headwind, it was great, first venture out on the new bike, I am now a complete convert...... The adding of the optional throttle was really a good idea as at points you have to dodge the pedestrians on the promenade and this does make it easier......

Bike along sides is my wife's , a Beachcruiser Coco Loco from Nirve California.

:D

In a location like that, even Shanks's pony would be great!

In this English winter I envy you.

We're all jealous - both of your bike and your weather.

I have one question though: Is it fair that you have the super powerful TONARO and your wife has to try and keep up with you on a pedal bike?

I'm the one with the busted knees, shes as fit as a fiddle and chose her bike! (she had the option) :)

You mentioned the T word and the snipers jump out of the woodwork.

Good to hear you are enjoying your electric bike....whoever made it.

Completely agree Lynda, surprised that Steve commented that way. Maybe he thought my mention of Shanks's Pony was a crack at the Tonaro. It wasn't, it was just a comment on the surroundings being nice without any bike needed to go anywhere else.

Well....maybe not TOO surprising as Steve has suffered at the hands of some snipers, as have I, and it understandably makes some people a bit more defensive.......it sure can be a tough place on this forum at times ( not for me though.........Im a thick skinned geordie ) :D :D

I must have missed something, why is it that there are people on here who do not like the Tonaro, is it that they are just completely different, old tech, not true bike, too much like a moped or what? I have nothing against any of the bikes advertised on here by the dealers, they are all doing something to reduce pollution and if it can get an unfit guy like me back on to two wheels then they must all be doing something right surely..... If i read write from all the posts i have waded through surely crank motors will become more the norm with Bosch and Panasonic driving them forward....

There's nothing wrong with the Tonaro spiritburner, it's a sound e-bike and very good value for money for it's type. It did however get over-hyped by some owners at the outset, prompting some posts reacting against that, in turn making some owners rather touchy it seems.

They can rest assured that it's not just the Tonaro that's got this treatment, a recent example being Ian Hughes of Storck Raddar who over-hyped at the outset and received exactly the same reactions. I see nothing wrong with this, seeing it in fact as desirable. Visitors to the forum should see realistic assessments from which to make reliable judgements.

Well......dont ask me Neil why some people react the way they do.......I sometimes think a psychoanalyst would have a field day on here at times :D
But, yes, you are right.....all electric bikes are doing their bit, whether for pollution, recreation, commuting or whatever, everyone has their personal preferences and criteria for buying the bike they buy and we should all respect that decision, as indeed most members on here do.
Nowt stranger than folk as they say......we can all be a bit strange at times, I hold my hands up to that, but , hey, doesnt that make life interesting :)
I wouldnt worry about it anyway......I dont :)
