Hi,

A few questions for the wise.
I have 2 old Sakura 36v x 200w motors and associated parts.
The idea is to put them both on my Indian rickshaw, that side is not a problem just not sure on a few points.
I am not bothered on weight so will keeep with the sla,s but should I use a pack per motor or just one for the two.
Use one or two controllers if one uprate it somewhat.
For throttle control will one of the originals cope with two motors or will there be difference in power shared by the motors, or should I use something like a wheel chair joy stick contoller.
Anyother bits required in the wiring I have not thought of i.e. diodes, relays etc.

Thank you in advance
Fatts:)

keep it simple one of everything apart from motors.only half the amount to go wrong, only half the amount to buy, and only half the amount to maintain.you will of course have to get a controller with double the output and high ah. batteries depending on distance.the throttle should be ok as they only have a low voltage signal to cope with and the power should even itself out between the two motors as long as they are evenly matched ie. one not worn out or rated more than the other. you will need a higher rated fuse , i would guess at about 40amp but that would probably be down to trial and error.it might be an idea to have one motor switchable so that you could turn it on only when needed and so prolong battery life.

It will be illegal on the basis that the maximum assist motor power rating for a trike is 250 Watts under either UK or EU law.

In addition, the weight limit for an assisted trike is 60 kilos, and you could well be exceeding that.

Power assisting a rickshaw is almost impossible in the UK and those that were on the road in London as cycle taxis have been taken off the road by the police.
