Well I did bid on the peak, and the 36ride(4am), got outbid on both, better luck next time. I saw the Alpino, and the starting bid is a bit to high for me, but stiil looking.
You pays for what you gets.....The Alpino in a different league. PM Dave and have a chat, really nice chap....

£720 for a used bike that only cost £999 new anyway not particuilirly good value...I know its frustrating but would not worry, something else will be along soon.

Not to worry Jazper; nothing lost...other than a bit of sleep perhaps. I think the winner got a decent bike at a decent price and I have to disagree with Eddie. I think £720 is pretty good value for what is, to all intents and purposes, a new bike with a full warranty. Ok, the battery may have aged a little but lots of people buy new ebikes without any idea how long the battery has been sitting on a shelf.

If you keep an eye on ebay, I'm sure you will see plenty of other bikes which seem bargains, (not all are though!) Of course, if your foray into the world of online auctions has put you off somewhat, I'm sure there will be a bike show somewhere near you this summer where you'll get to try some of the demonstrators and you never know; you may even pick up a bargain!

All the best,
Indalo

I've just been out for a proper bike ride today with my wife (rather than just commuting to work). We did 33 miles in total, and still had 41% of the battery left, and 36v (starts off at 42v). I was switching the motor off by the handlebar switch and only turning it on when needed for inclines etc. The outward stretch of our trip was 16.3 miles, and had 74% battery left after that. Used the rest coming back, although my wife used it a lot on one mile or so stretch of steep hill, where I rode her bike up (my normal bike), and she rode the Peak making use of the battery.

It performed very well, I reckon using it like that we could have got 50 miles out of it easily. Here's a pic from when we stopped for our lunch picnic.

Jazper, there are a couple of Wisper 905s and a 906 alpino on eBay at the mo, which could be worth watching

HD462, nice pic. The Peak looks great. How did you find it cycling the bike unassisted?

Hi Jasono, it rode ok once you got to 8mph upover, bit heavier than a normal bike setting off, and felt it when you hit an incline, so switched the power on (there's a handlebar switch, high, off, or low assist, throttle still works if need be). But on the flat, and there was no wind, it was fine, and would freewheel for ages, no drag.

The only place you felt the difference to my Univaga was on downhill cindertrack where we were doing about 18mph freewheeling. Even with the suspension fork the Peak felt hard, but the Univega rides them much better, but that's a lightweight bike with a good non-suspension chromoly frame, so more flex and give than you get with aluminium frames which are more rigid. It might be 18yrs old now, but it was £600 back then which was quite expensive, with quality components.

But still the Peak is a really nice ride, with a comfortable riding position, more upright than the Univega.
