Hello

A rather "thick" question but is a presta valve the same as a woods value? Just wanting to get a CO2 pump for new pro-connect- looking at a Innovations Proflate Pump.

Not a thick question Ibby. Many people have had difficulties with Woods valves. It is not the same as a presta or a schrader valve.
If a pump was supplied with the bike it should fit, but that will not help you get the pressures correct. You can get a small brass adapter from a friendly local cycle shop which will allow you to a attach schrader valve fitting pump. The same type as used on car tyres, then you can use a pump with a gauge to allow you to inflate the tyres to the correct pressures.

The best solution in the long term is to change the tubes for schrader valve type. Much less hassle.

As John says, not thick at all, and changing tubes may be your best option. But the dimensions and thread on the woods is the same as a presta, so I would expect the CO2 pump to work.

Not seen the proflate pump, but if it uses co2 from a cylinder, and your tubes are butyl rubber, the co2 difuses through the walls (slowly) then the tubes loose pressure over time faster than an air (nitrogen/oxyogen mix)

These CO2 pumps are really emergency inflators only, one cylinder getting a tyre to around 20 lbs "get you home" pressure, the exact amount depending on the tyre size and width. Whatever the tyre size, the pressure given is way below the correct one.

It's best to always have two cylinders on board, both to cover the perverse occasion when two punctures occur on a trip or to provide enough pressure when the distance to home is still long.
