I've had some real problems uploading this video to Youtube. The upload stopped twice with an error after about an hour each time. So I re-edited the video removing just 1 second right at the end. And this time it upload, but it did take most of the day. Also had problems with my browser (Opera) playing some of the videos on Youtube, tried using HTML5 instead of flash player. I am not sure I have set things up properly but at least videos seem to play again.

After strong winds and heavy overnight rain on Monday, Tuesday 1st of November looked like a nice bright sunny day, just right for a ride on the bike. About 8 miles with some 12-14% hills. The only problem was the heavy rain and wind had knocked leaves and twiggy branches down from over hanging trees and I was aware of the possibility of skidding. But I did not expect the small branch I ran over to flip up in between the forks stopping me steering properly (@ about 10:25 on the video). Fortunately I was going very slowly at the time and just fell over onto a grassy bank at the side of the road. Glad to say apart from feeling a bit embarrassed about not holding the bike up, both the bike and me suffered no damage!

Watch out for those wet leaves they may be hiding a branch waiting to bite you!

Yes. It was certainly very wet this morning. More fords then roads! ... and lots lof leaves blown into to snow like drifts .... I certainly took my time. A good rain test for my new config. My stats this morning: dist:15.41, time:1:11:47, avg:12.8, max: 26.6 mph
:)

Brilliant! Made me smile!

Crashes I always think are quite amusing so long as you dont injure yourself!

A few weeks ago I saw a long stick with at least 1 inch diameter right across the cycle lane I was in. A bus was parked to my left so I couldn't swerve, and cyclists were right behind me, so I had to go straight through it and hope for the best. A bit of a bump but everything was fine. Don't know about the guys behind me!

Usually the smaller ones get broken up straight away, or thrown towards my legs.

The spill is at 10min 30 sec.

I did a similar thing this morning riding across the grass and sand near the beach. I hit a very soft piece of sand with the front wheel and down I went at about 2mph. Luckily I was not seen and so my credibility was kept intact.

Good to see you escaped in the same way.

Nice video Chris, nicely filmed..despite the terrible roads in places.. What camera did you use and what sort of mounting?

Nice video - it's so sudden and unexpected when these mishaps occur. Nice country round where you are - where is it?

I remember wet leaves from my motor-cycle days too. I had one trip across Exmoor on a job and the roads were so slippery with wet leaves that I was scared to go over about 20mph. It was a 750 four and no matter how gentle I was with the throttle, the back wheel just kept sliding and spinning.

Just me maybe, but the music spoils it - I muted the speakers because the video tells one story but the music tells another.
