Just back from Brussels and was quite surprised by all the electric "Boris bikes" that were available for hire. The charging set up was impressive - no wires dangling anywhere.

Certainly not! Roads in the town centre were not cycle friendly at all (cycling ways down the middle of tram lines anyone?) I don't think I would have the nerve, though there may be some off route options. Having said that there were a few about (Other bike stations did have quite a few bikes out) I have a close up of the charging instructions if anyone is interested.

did you hire one?

Good to see they've sorted the problem of potential theft of the bikes...

Who the hell would want to pinch one of them?

Wondered who would spot that one!

I thought the cover at the back covered the battery etc. Anyway these are the instructions-

I know this might be a bit of a downer but they aren't ebikes. They have 3 speed internal hub gears and are pretty much the same bikes as they have in paris and other places.

Brussels.
Brussels - Villo!
Paris
Paris - Vélib' - vélos en libre-service à Paris - Site Officiel
Antwerpen - my favourite as they look/ride kinda like choppers
