Really struggling with working out the various Marathon tyres.

Using a mountain bike on the road, what would be the ideal Marathon tyre for road use ?

eg. Durano Plus, Marathon Plus - do I go for a thinner 26" tyre 26 x 1.35 ?

Confused

Good shout from Dave.

Marathon's are known to be bit harsh - trade-off for puncture resistance - so a bit of width is a good thing.

Just make sure you get one with a shallow tread, which is designed for roads/cinder tracks.

Finding the shallow tread isn't proving easy unless I'm looking in the wrong place

I use Swalbe Land Cruisers filled with Slime and touch wood no issues. Great for muddy tow paths and light off road I found.

I use a MTB on the road and find that Big Apples work very well. I think the MPs are a bit on the narrow side for MTB rims. The Big Apples are more of an MTB tyre with a shallow road tread and roll very well.

My daughter used Big Apples for two years pretty much daily on her ATB bike that I converted to E for her with not one puncture.

Her new bike has Kendras and she had a puncture within the first 6 months. I will change them for MPs when she gets the next one.

The BA give built in suspension/comfort and roll real well too. I would use those again in a heart beat for wider rimmed ATB/MTB bike for the road.

Regards
