To support the battery, you can use GRP. Wrap the frame and battery carrier in cling-film then slap some GRP in between and fix the carrier with the screws. When the GRP is set, unscrew everything and trim the GRP until it looks neat. This one is slightly different, but gives you the general idea:

That is my conversion complete and I have been using it now for a couple of weeks.

Some issues I have had.

When below about 10mph, the motor keeps cutting out. I can see that the motor is pulling watts from the battery then it drops to zero then back to power. Once I reach around 12mph everything is fine.
Is this normal?

The magnetic brake sensors were a pain, the solution I found was to get some small bar magnets the little flat square ones that come with it are not really suitable.

Lastly the power switch on the battery is not working and needs replaced.

How do people protect the battery from water, is it all home made covers?

sounds like the best option is your LBS there is higher quality. most only fit it once, so get it right
