Eddie,I have said previously that myself and many of the Kudos guys thought the AVE MH7 bike the best bike we rode at the NEC Cycle Show, I thought it better than the similar Flyer, which was considerably more money....but can you get one?

Eddie, who are 'they'? Have they ever sold any into Germany? Have they made a production run. I am told that AVE is a small company run by a guy named Stefan, but more I don't know-Ebco seem to know more about them. Shame about all this mystery because they appear to have a nice range of bikes, they are well finished and well selected specification.
I gave up with them when they can't be bothered to answer e-mails,perhaps Ebco will have more luck with AVE-its coming up to 9 months since Ebco introduced that MH7 bike at the NEC,so maybe they are having similar problems. Nice bikes-strange company!!!!

The problem with the MH7 is it would have a very limited market here, these small wheeled bikes are mostly bought for city bikes, occasional use on boats or motorhomes, anyone spending £2k plus would mostly want a large wheeled bike, you are quite unusual in considering spending that much money on such a small bike,my customers don't really want to spend more than £800 on such a bike, any importer would be brave to bring over a large quantity especially considering the high capital cost.
I sold a Kudos King bike to a friend in Levkas,Greece. Was out there last week and the bike was parked outside a cafe alongside a baby Flyer bike, the Flyer was to my eyes a fine bike but all the conversations and interest was about the Kudos bike, nobody could believe that the Flyer cost 3 times the King-its all about perceived value. We sell 50 Kudos hub drives to every one Bosch drive bike. Until the crank drive 26" wheeled bikes come down to approaching £1k they will remain niche in the UK.

True. We saw the sudden burst of interest and purchases of the Tonaro crank drive e-bikes when they arrived mostly at £999, but after the prices crept up about 25% to 35% the interest flagged off and little is now heard of them in here now. Interestingly some of their prices have dropped a bit now, mostly to £1150, only 15% up on the introduction price.

here are 2 bikes both under 20kg, a requirement for lifting & carrying on camper van rear rack
Can that really be so important? If you're carrying it onto a bus, with your shopping in the other hand, I can see weight would be critical, but surely not when you've both hands free and both feet firmly planted on the ground.

The problem is that Campervan bike racks are often quite high.
My rack not to bad, but they have a weight limit. Only some tow bar mounted racks can take weight of e bikes, and I aint got one of dem....I much prefer lighter bikes anyway

Also the less weight hung on the back of a vehicle, the better, it can affect handling at critical moments, causing tail wag.

I'm just not convinced - two heavy cycles on the back of a Chlio would make a significant difference, on the back of an Astra not much - on the back of a camper, none whatsoever.

And, while there are some guys who would find lifting 15kg quite tiring, most of us should have no difficulty with 25kg. Unless, as I say, you're trying to nonchalantly carry your 23kg Foldaway up the steps onto a bus with your free hand full of shopping.

All buses should have cycle-racks on them - they need to be on the front, where the driver can keep an eye on them.

As they go under the front wheels?

Any e bike will get you from A to B and we have had people on here with £70,000 cars and a budget of £700 for an e bike.....Some of us have different priorities.

Yes correct Dave MH7 is a niche product. I to would prefer a full size bike, but as explained earlier, when its easy to find a Bosch bike at 20kg or under, once you look for a step through weight increases significantly. That is is why I turned my attention to folders...Also why the Cube is on shortlist as there is no bike like it.

Maybe the Chinese will come up with a decent centre drive, who knows. But Germany/Austria/Switzerland leading the way with e bike design and technology. I wont pay for a Merc or Audi, not even a VW, happy enough with a Fiesta as I hate driving in London..but will spend on decent e bikes as they give much more pleasure then a car.

Good morning Eddie, have you looked at the AVE SH9 bike
26" wheels
Shimano SLX 10-speed
Top spec Suntour forks
B & M Lights
Bosch drive
Its available as a Lady version-46cm frame or Man-52cm frame.
That or the cheaper SH7 would have been the bike I would have imported. I believe Ebco had a sample at the Great Yarmouth show.
I thought it a good looking bike.
With regards to China there are at least 10 companies looking at producing a competitor to the Bosch motor, some with big R&D facilities. They are close to production ready motors but the big players in China are still involved with extensive testing-Kudos is closely involved.

Fully expect China to compete soon after all a market with 120 million e-bikes makes us look like small change.
