I've noticed a few threads on this forum recently, that have descended into what can only be described as childish name calling, with some slanderous content thrown in for good measure.

You know who you are

Can we just stop this please, and get back on track to providing sensible answers without the vindictive attitude :)

Well, there are just odd ones who seem to make it up as they go along - and I don't know what we could do about those. Logic doesn't come into it. It's not unique to this forum either - it appears to be a general problem which pops up from time to time.

Flecc has been on the receiving end a good few times. Anyone who posts seriously is 'up for it'. A couple of years ago someone who was particularly disruptive - usually after closing time at the weekend - got thrown off here. It hasn't got that far recently. The more 'popular' the forum becomes, the greater the odds that someone will behave dubiously.

Rog.

I never saw any problems on the forums of 'Stamp Lovers' and 'Donkey Riders UK' :D

I'm also a member of a motorbike forum, and it's very rare that discussions get as 'heated' as some I've seen since joining this forum. On the other hand though, there are so many really friendly and helpful members on here, and I've gained some very valuable insights.

I can't say I've agreed with everyones opinion on here (especially as I ride a Satans Steed Aurora:D ) Everyone's entitled to their own view but under no circumstances should it descend into abusive comments. If anyone does feel like they're being sucked in by another member, just make a final non abusive comment and finish with that thread. I'd hate to think that any of the über helpful mega nice members quit because of the odd bad apple. Think happy thoughts everyone!

I find it hard to "get along" with these new minless speed freaks that dont care about the legality issue at all and have a totally selfish agenda. Perhaps they will get frustrated and go elsewhere............

It's strange how this seems to run in cycles. As you say Fordulike, it seems to have recently occurred, the previous occasion was a long time before when once more we had around three or four behaving badly.

It may be that seeing one coming in with some poor posting behaviour encourages the like-minded to join in.

For my part I tried at the outset as the first poster and helper to ensure this forum was polite and respectful, dedicated solely to helpfulness. As such I believe in "a stitch in time saving nine", so I react very promptly at any early signs of poor behaviour habits to nip them in the bud.

That's bound to cause some friction, but I believe that's less than would occur if the poor behaviour was allowed to continue and spread.

Jeez, case in point. I don't know what 'minless' means, but to call someone a freak and selfish....and what agenda? Does this mean that if you saw my Aurora ablaze at the side of the road, you wouldn't even offer to p155 on it for me.
Ironically, you've name called on Fordulikes well intentioned thread, "Why can't we all just get along". I'll bet he's well chuffed.

And on that note, I'll take my own advice from above and (deep breath) here's a thread I'm done with, tyvm.

lots of strong opinions on here !!!!!
best thing since morecambe and wise and grumpy old men........

good laughs at the way threads can twist completely off subject as contributors look for strange comparisons to make (or score) a point.

take all the banter with a pinch of salt.......

we call this type of exchange 'craic' up here !!!!!! usually have to go down the pub for this stuff........

obviously no offence meant here.......

oh yes forget the question !!!!!! now what was it ?

One of the stroppiest message boards I ever had the misfortune to join was for Buddhists. Made this place look like A Retreat.

Perhaps they should have tried cycling.

It can be entertaining if you are shackled to the computer doing other things. A spot of light relief now and again is very welcome.

I have not been on here long but I've noticed that its often the Aurora riders who shout loudest and longest.
Also noticed that they pretty much always own a motorcycle to prove how competently they can handle the speed. Oh by the way i own a motorcycle as well, i use it when i don't want to pedal.

'Handle the speed'? Yup that extra 2 mph really calls for 100% concentration.

Seriously though, motorcyclists do in general make for safer drivers, as do HGV drivers. I have both, and I'm awesome.:D

That wouldn't be because we're always singled out and generally treated as though we're hooligan types of course.

Strange how the Aurora seems to do up to 22 mph when it's performance is being boasted about, but just 17 mph when the legality is being considered.

Yup, I'll agree in part, bicycle, motorcycle, truck, coach and heavy transporter background, but I never claim awesome. I always maintain I'm a learner rider/driver, stops me getting too cocky when I acknowledge there's always more to learn.

I am new to the forum and have noticed some very negative comments . This has stopped me posting a question due to the abuse I may receive if the questions I ask are obvious. I still find the information useful and will carry on viewing but not posting.
