Hi Group,
I have pretty much decided on the Wisper 905se SPORT
but it seams alot of the people i want to buy from have run out and are waiting for their 2009 model in April.
i was wondering what the differences are.
I read a rumor that the 2009 will have the off road button removed
(this would be nice as much of my cycle is private dirt track)
but i have also been told there is mention of the off road button in the manual.

i was also thinking that the rumor may have been put about to stop decline of this years stock when the new of the 2009 was released.

the chap in the shop that i would like to buy from has said that "We can place an off road control on the bike if comes with out one. " is this realistic

thanks for any advice

Apparently yes David. I understand that although the button disappears, the wiring can still be modified to give the "off road" 18 mph.

The place I bought mine from (mail order) indicate they still have stock. Take a look at:

Electric Bikes Direct - #1 in the UK for Electric Bikes and Folding Bicycles - eBikes Direct

Delivery was quick, and although mine arrived with a broken gear selector it was replaced immediately and the new one was with me the day after the bike was delivered.

i shall give them a phone in the morning thanks

Do we know if the throttle has been removed from the 2009 as well.

I don't think we know much at all at the moment. I understand that they have improved the battery monitoring although the cells are unchanged. Not that that would influence you much, I'm sure. They have actually said that. Presumably some changes may still be in the pipeline and not yet finalized, even though the 2009 bikes are supposedly already in the process of being shipped.

It is rumoured that although the 'off-road' button is to be removed, the same controller will be used and therefore it would be a simple matter to fit your own 'off road' button. I would expect the wiring loom will be unchanged, and you may well find a connector tucked away ready for use. That's just an educated guess on my part, though!

There has been no mention of the removal of the throttle. AFAIK there is no requirement that it should be removed, although there is some rumour (again!) that there may be a requirement for the throttle to only work when the bike is being pedalled. In fact, by accident, I discovered this 'feature' is already in place (probably required elsewhere in Europe) because mine did in fact work that way as supplied, but it was a two-minute job (with the help and blessing of the guys at Wisper) to make the throttle operate at all times.

David has already given assurances on here that the throttle is still with us for April 2009 bikes. I have ordered a 705SE for my wife (the new one has same running gear as the 905SE:) ) And may well change my current 905SE for this new model (or the 906) when they come out.....mainly because I prefer the new power management set up and battery's will be interchangeable between the 2 bikes. only thing is I have a rebuilt stronger rear wheel on mine and marathon tyres:rolleyes:

Yes if it's anything like my 2007 905se, it's a simple matter of removing one connector with a small preset resistor in the end and your bike is completely derestricted (completely reversible just plug it back in ;) ) button or no button!

I've been enjoying a 2009 Wisper 905 Eco that arrived in the UK mid February. There's at least one container of new Wisper's being distributed around the UK right now.

I was going to wait until I had better day light for my ride home for work, but
I ridden everyday since I got it.

I think it's changed since then. There is no preset resistor to remove, and even in 'off-road' mode the bike is not completely deristricted - the 'set point' just moves up from around 15.5 mph to around 19 mph.

2009 905

Good day Pedelecers

To put the records straight and to avoid confusion.

The 2009 905's and 705's

Will be in the UK mid April

Do not have the green button fitted, however they do have the green button available for retro fitting which takes about 10 minutes.

Still have the throttle and always will be even if it can only work when the pedals are being used.

Have interchangeable batteries between the 705 and 905, a new battery management system, connect to the bike through a connector at the bottom of the battery instead of on the side.

Have new MTB pedals

Have AlexRims

Do not have a computer.

Are more expensive than the last few 2007 bikes remaining in the shops.

Are available with either a 37v 8A or 14A battery.

All the best David

Throttle on demand

I absolutely agree with you Torrent, but the law is the law.

Now if any one wanted to take the law into their own hands and change a couple of cables in the front box for off road use.......................

Regards David

Thanks David!

So for this April delivery, will the throttle still work without peddling?

is the 705SE with a 14 v battery? or a choice of 10 or 14?

The independent throttle is, as far as I am concerned, one of the best thing about e bikes.
I agree, but sadly doomed once the EU regulations are enforced, though with luck that could take a couple more years. Existing bikes won't be affected of course.

given that dates of manufacture aren't recorded per bike, and an ebike manufactured in 2006 might have the same overall appearance as one made in 2011, how will the authorities work out whether its an older model with a throttle, or a newer model which has had one added at a later date?

Might have different CE markings, and those are in theory compulsory on the bikes.

However, many e-bike makes don't last as long as the five years you quote, and models lasting that long are as rare as hens teeth. I can only think of the Quando offhand, and even that has major differences between early, mid and later models. I find I can determine the age of many bikes just from a photo and am often asked to for ebay items.

I could become a police consultant. (aka a grass) :D

Hi Eddeio

The throttles will still work independently and the choice is between an 8A and 14A battery.

Sorry, But the devil is in the detail

So The 705SE will have a choice of 8 or 14 amp battery?

or is the 705eco the 8 amp and SE the 14amp?
