The internet in China is subject to censorship, not all world content accessible. Perhaps our occasional comments on Chinese quality control have led to filtering out of the Pedelecs site, but why Wisper should be inaccessible I don't know.

Perhaps they don't like Chinese companies being owned by UK principals. :D
.
I've had a few helpful messages from Dick Lai in China so I guess it isn't censored.

That's true - he's PM'd me on here only yesterday. It makes it seem all the more likely that it's a DNS problem, and as all DNS requests go through the Government servers for censorship purposes, I would not be at all surprised.

It's selected websites that are government censored via the Chinese inputting servers, outgoing email ok to any recipient.

Correct me if I'm wrong Flecc - we're talking about PMs via the website, so Dick would need access to the website in order to PM somebody. It's not just an email.

Thanks for the correction Rog, I was of course referring only to emails.

Censored?

Pedelec is not censored I should have said that I can get on occasionally from China but it is a bit hit and miss. Where as the Wisper site can be accessed from China on my computer through the factories wireless broadband, but none of the Chinese computers can receive it.

Confusing!

I'm not sure my post will help you Rog - it sounds like Wisper have upgraded the control system since I got my bike last year.

Regards,

Elephants
Thanks for your help, and also to everyone else who has also been helpful. All my questions have now been answered, everything on the bike works as expected, and I'm more than happy with things so far.

I still have to do the little mod to get throttle-only mode (it only works in pedelec mode) but that's a two-minute no brainer and not particularly important to me anyway.

It's certainly fun to ride (though I haven't used it much yet) and threatens to bring out the hooligan in me much more than motorbikes ever have! No, I don't mean that, honest.... There's no excuse for an attack of second childhood.

Hi

My friend went to China and said they still used bbc computers in the Hotel which were chained to the desk with a green screen. This was in 2002 so maybe changed in the future.

How much will the new bike be?

thx

Bob

I hope the de restricted mode is not a casualty of the latest version - I'll be a little disappointed if it's now limited to 15 mph. The label on the rear wheel motor says '200W' which doesn't bode well. Especially as the specification being posted everywhere (including the Wisper site) still specifies almost 20mph with motor assistance.

Rog.
Hi Rog

I can assure you that the motor is 250W the 200W labels were put on by an over zealous factory worker who believed that they had to be 200W for the UK market. Simple change the label. We have put a stop to to the practice!

The green Button will have to go eventually I am afraid, however we can supply them for very simple retro fitting if anyone is not going to use the bike on the highway.

Regards David

Many thanks, David. Several others put me right on that one. Everything works 'as required' and I don't have any other concerns - apart from the rubbish weather!

Incidentally, I note the place which sold me mine has raised the price by £24 over the last couple of days. Another casualty of the exchange rate, I suspect....

I'll do a proper owner's review when I've had the opportunity to do some serious riding. I'm impressed so far. I suspect a lightweight like me gets the best out of it.

I personally do lke to call the green button the ''After Burner''

Nitro? It was a little joke like saying a turbo button. :D
