Wisper 905SE Winter Battery Care...?

I would appreciate any advice on the care and maintenance of the Battery on my Wisper 905SE during the Winter period, in particular.

1. The bike is stored in a garage which often drops to 0 degrees during the Winter, is it o.k. to leave the battery on the bike when not in use?

2. Is there a minimum temperature for charging the battery?

3. Any issues with the battery when riding during cold weather conditions?

The manual suggests the working environmental temperature is -20C to +55C hence do not anticipate any issues, but would like to call on forum members for real life experience.

Many Thanks.

The lower the temperature, the better it is for lithium battery life when in storage, though the difference in just overnight storage is very small. You can leave the battery on the bike, but the bike's performance when the battery is cold will be noticeably below par, especially if it's near to zero degrees. If you want the best performance, bringing the battery indoors overnight is much better, and it's also a bit better from the charging point of view.

I second John the Bike Whisperer's sentiments too Flecc. Thanks for the battery tips. (Knew battery care would come up again sooner or later).

Battery Care

As always Flecc is bang on the button.

The only thing I would add is that if you are going to leave the bike in storage over the winter you should charge the battery for a couple of hours every eighth week.

Best regards David

I am not using my wisper bike at all due to pressure of work and awful weather.... should I give battery a top up every week or so?

It is kept in my hall, so nice and warm.

Hi Eddeio

How is the bike after the work on the rear wheel?

Re the battery, it is best stored at half charge and topped up every 8 weeks for two hours.

All the best David

I am ashamed to say I have not tried it yet. between work and trying to get house straight for Christmas (due to some building work) have not had the time.......plus the weather

But will give it a run this week to follow your advice:)
