Just adjusted the front wheel spindle bearings and found them way too tight. I'd strongly recommend checking the bearing tightness on any bicycle as this is not the first time I've found them too tight from the factory or from the shop.

Is there an equivalent adjustment on the Bafang motors (especially the Aurora SB)? Without taking it out, I can't see any unless it's behind/inside the freewheel. Looking at http://www.szbaf.com/images/product/size/20091119142455153.jpg the bearings appear to be self aligning and not ball or conical rollers so there's no side adjustment.

No adjustment, the SB motors use automotive style precision ballraces whicb are never likely to wear out in practice.

After reading this thread I thought I would cycle my Wisper without power to see if I could notice any drag. Got to say I didn't, but I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the ride was on the flat (or downhill!). On the hills things were tolerable, hard work and the bikes weight makes for a real grind, but I guess that's what low gears (and the motor) are for! No noticeable drag though?

Hi Jason

Thanks for the report, this is more how Wisper and all bikes with the higher end Bafang motors should perform. There should be very little drag from the new brushless motors. But uphill you will notice the extra weight of the bike.

All the best

yes that is exactly my observation. The drag in the new SB motors is not very significant IMHO. I can cycle my Emate with ease. I agree that if I want to exceed 15mph then you need to put extra effort in riding but that seems to be the case with almost any bike (maybe expect Race and Hybrid bikes). I truly believe that 8FUN have improved their products quality and they certainly want to keep their a top reputation.

best regards

It's good to hear from several sources that the drag has been greatly reduced on the latest SB production, it could be real pain in the past as those of us with older bikes well know.

Hi Tony

I really must pop over with a bike for you to try as promised earlier in the year, please excuse my apparent lack of enthusiasm but this summer has been very demanding on my time (as my long suffering wife will confirm ).

I would really appreciate your comments.

I hope to see you soon now.

Best regards

David

Not to worry David, I've had a lot of demands on my time as well as my lower incidence of posting in here shows.
