If the legal limits for the UK were removed what would be the most efficient way to do 25-30mph commute with minimal pedal assist. The distance would be around a 5 mile each way with a total weight of between 100 - 120kg Bike and rider.

We'd need to know of it was a flat, easy gradient or steep gradient route for the best answer.

For 30 mph, you need 1000w of ouput power, so say 1500w input, which means a 1000w direct drive motor and a 30 amp controller. You would need about 45wh/mile, so let's say at least 500wh battery that is capable of 30A continuous. Em3ev.com do kits that have all that, or you can get a cheap Ebay kit or Cyclotricity one, and power it with about 15ah of 13S (or more) lipos.
