Woosh Sirocco CD

Hi....I tried a Sirocco CD...unfortunately I only rode it round the adjacent nature park.
I didn't really test it, only riding slow and relaxed 'cos that's the way I always ride.

I did like it...it felt smooth, quiet and comfortable,from the little testing I gave, I got the impression I could easily ride, in an emergency, without power, this's important to me.
...despite conflicting opinions I cannot ride a hub drive without power...and I've had 5.

The only downside I came across was the narrowness of the handlebar grips,
....I suffer with Osteoarthiritis in my hands and find that narrow/hard, bike grips accecerbate (wrong word ? ) the problem.

I wondered if anyone who understands the problem can suggest a solution.
...I do wear padded bike gloves, these help but not ideal.

Thanks for your feedback about the Sirocco CD - a very interestng bike.
Regarding the hand grips it ought to be quite easy to change them for some of those ergometric type which are flatter and wider.

Change the throttle to a thumb one like this:
Thumb Level Throttle - BMSBATTERY
Then you can use whatever grips you want. Those loose full-width throttles are horrible anyway because you can't get a decent grip of the bar on that side as they wiggle about.

cheers Barry...unfortunately the whole of the right handgrip is the throttle.
....not like we may be used to where the throttle is a seperate section to the left of the RH grip.

if you don't need the throttle, you can unplug it and replace the grips with a pair of Ergon GP1.
I don't have throttle on my crank drive 8-Fun and I don't miss it.

I bet Frank from Xipi's got one. They're very easy to fit. I'd cut the wire about six inches from each throttle and join them red to red, black to black, signal to signal. IIRC the red button on the Woosh throttle is self-contained, and switches the throttle on and off, which you don't need with a thumb throttle. Maybe the Woosh technician can swap the throttles over if you buy one first and send it to them - worth asking.

thanks for this feedback, it is important.
We are going to see if we can introduce soft grips throttle in the future as an option.
Should be very easy to fit. May take a few weeks and would be a bit more money but I'm guessing some of our customers would quite like this?
LOVELY and hot here right now. Looking forward to a long ride tomorrow.

The Sirocco CD arrving end of next week has some improvements.
When we went to Redbridge in April we borrowed d8veh's rear wheel to try with the demo Sirocco CD that we had at the time and found it was quite a bit better.
So we upgraded the gears (took a few weeks), and also, Mike63, the grips on the one coming in are much better than the one you tried - round and soft ...so all in all, a few improvements.

It's possible to convert a full width throttle to a part width one. I did it on my two throttle bikes some years ago, published how on my website and a number of members did the same.

A tip to get the swollen profile for the inner throttle section, Bind PVC tape around the centre in a rising and falling profile before fitting the inner twistgrip rubber over the mound.
