  4. LSW947-10-2. This is a 20 Amp controller The only specs I have to hand are the ones stamped on the side of the controller – see photo below. http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/s453/stevewatkin1/cid_image002_jpg01D08975_zpsj0pxab4z.jpg Got this from the supplier. Tried to feel any difference on hills but even on steep hills i can't perceive anything
  5. I am using a king-meter j-lcd unit on my bike and the last 4 power settings seem to be the same ! 1/ cuts out at about 10mph 2/ will run right up to the motors max which is about 19mph 3,4,& 5 all seem the same as 2 !! I have the max speed cut out set for 40kph so i reckon i'm using the motor's max revs controlled by the voltage. My reckoning was that if i set the cut out to a figure higher than i will ever go i will be able to get the most from the motor Can these be re-calibrated to give a more useful progression? I have found the manual on line http://www.king-meter.com/upload/files/Specifications%20of%20J-LCD%20V2.0.pdf but there is no mention of this. Motor is a 8fun 350watt in a 26" wheel running on 36v Samsung Lipo
  6. No one has mentioned the "Momentum" bikes. Think they might fit the bill too!
  7. Back to the original post then.................after a long break !! Got my Thorn Tourer fitted up with a 350 watt 8Fun front hub motor and with the Alfine 8 in the back i have a very rideable machine with a range of about 30 miles. Trucks along at about 18-19mph with pedal input from me and i haven't found a hill it wouldn't climb. All this means the the Lafree has to go..............make me an offer please http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/s453/stevewatkin1/2319776717_e73bf1b33f_z_zps364134e3.jpg This isn't my bike but it is exactly the same
  8. Just realised when i re-read the previous post that there may be a terminology glitch here !! Thing with the LCD readout.................panel Thing that is silver/ribbed and loads of wires coming out........controller Am i right? Going to edit the previous post to read right ________________________________________________________ If i'm correct with this terminology are you saying that i should take the controller (silver thing) apart to see where the blue goes ?
  9. Dave, I cannot see the blue wire going to the mosfet. The wires join the PCB bottom left in this picture and the Mosfet is at top left. The PCB route is impossible to trace !! http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/s453/stevewatkin1/GEDC0390_zps6101518e.jpg The red wire has corroded right through where it is soldered to the PCB so that's now disconnected and all the others look like they are about to follow ! Should i try shorting the red and blue when i cant be absolutely sure that the blue does indeed go to the mosfet? The last option is to get another control unit panel and either splice the wires or try to find one with 2 meters of wire and the correct connector. http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/s453/stevewatkin1/GEDC0392_zps4a2ae74c.jpg http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/s453/stevewatkin1/GEDC0391_zpsd9e851da.jpg http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/s453/stevewatkin1/GEDC0388_zps70e10235.jpg Pretty sure the controller panel is knackered. Where should i look to get a replacement?
  10. Thanks Dave, job for the w/e i think
  11. Thanks, im getting a 41v reading across the red and black but i guess i will have to short between red and which one ?? Actually i'll go and check the colors before anything else Ok i have Red Black Blue Green Brown (may be purple as those two colours often look the same to me!)
  12. I have been asked by a friend to fix his child carrying trike;- http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/s453/stevewatkin1/GEDC0384_zps859bfd66.jpg It's been left out in the rain and the controller was fill of water;- http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/s453/stevewatkin1/GEDC0385_zps5a5ec3c4.jpg http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/s453/stevewatkin1/GEDC0387_zps30836e1b.jpg When i opened it up water poured out. There was a fair bit of corrosion on the PCB. I tried cleaning it with WD40 and gentle scrubbing with an old tooth brush. It all looked better but still not working ! tried flushing it with meths and letting it dry but still no joy so i must assume it's toast !! Next stop is to replace the controller but there are no plugs in the connecting wire so the question is;- Is it possible to fit a new controller of any sort? Any help would be much appreciated. Opps sorry guys, think i have this in the wrong section. Mods please can you move this to the tech area ?
  13. I think most of the bikes with a hub motor only use a rotation sensor. Others will either confirm or otherwise
  14. That's really nice stuff, I'm in awe of the quality of your restoration work. You must have loved it I could never be like you. Couldn't understand all that work and then not riding it So i have had loads of bike and although i do all of my own maintenance it's of the "just enough" style. For me riding and visiting places i love has always been what turns me on. Good job there are lots of different types of people out there. Here's my present (small) stable West coast of Ireland http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/s453/stevewatkin1/Ireland%202014/GEDC0292_zpscefde594.jpg West Wales http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/s453/stevewatkin1/CB500/GEDC0360_zps7f4de824.jpg
  15. True but the main spoiler for "maintenance free" ebikes and pedal cycles is weight ! IC power doesn't have the same restrictions. Not saying it can't be done, just that it costs.
  16. Or buy a £194, 24v pack from Kudos and strap it on the rack. http://www.kudoscycles.com/product_info.php?cPath=2_3_12&products_id=153
  17. So long as you get your 24v it's gonna work, I think. If you pop the new battery on the rack rather than in the existing box you can wire it straight to the wires that go to the contacts at the bottom. Use a marine isolator and all should be hunky dorey But i'm no expert If it all goes "tits up" give me a shout and i may be in the position to buy some bits off of you to keep mine going
  18. As this is a seat post thread i thought i'd post here rather than starting a new one. I have a Thudbuster which was great on my Scott but now as the Scott is sold i'm stuck with a 26.8mm post that i cant get to fit all my 27.2mm bikes It seems too small a difference in post sizes to shim. Going to need a shim 0.2mm shim which i reckon is a bit like filigree Any thoughts about how i can get some more use out of it?
  19. Just got one from ebay.................check the ES thread.
  20. Bit hard to be sure. When inflated outside the tyre it will appear big, that's normal. The top picture you show, when its just out of the box, looks slightly suspect but some times they do look a little like that and then with a minimum amount of air in (just enough to give it shape) it fits OK. Did it go in without overlapping on it self? If so that should be OK. Often there is some writing on the tube it self saying what size it is. As the original one looked the same i would guess it's all OK.
  21. looks like it maybe a 700c tube in a 26" box 700c = 622mm bead seat diameter 26" = 559mm bead seat diameter
  22. Think Ground Effect cycle clothing from NZ do something like this.
