Hi Benjahmin That sounds like sound advice, I'll be looking into that later, it's raining here today so plenty time. I'd add that it's only when I'd bought it and had a good fiddle that I realised the battery was 10 years old, the guy we bought it off thought it 5 yo, which was borne out by his receipt, that said I'm aware 5 yo is 'getting on'. No idea why there's the age disparity, probably best to blame French supermarkets Just a thought on moving from 24 to 36v, will I need to change the wiring, surely just the handlebar controller and the bulbs? Cheers Ian

Hi Chaps, Just wow! that all sounds pretty unanimous and makes me think that the dealer I spoke with wasn't just being a miserable b@88$&d. I think I'll be leaving well alone then! There's always a but...But what about the extra go the additional Nms that I'm missing out on, did it make no difference or just not worth the bind? Thank you all so very much for taking the time to reply. I have to say that the bike just works wonderfully, a little too well at times. Shortly after getting over here we bought a s/h pedelec for Jools, my other half, she loves it but I'm not so sure. It lacks range and keeps cutting out and she's so slow (relatively) on it that I get damn cold when we're out together. It's some weird French (probably Chinese) make, a TVT +Urban with a 250W front wheel mounted motor, a 24v 8Ah battery and some generic Chinese control system. The battery seems to be 10 years old so I suspect that it's just no longer up to the job. I'm hoping to re-cell it myself but the youtube videos make it look pretty complicated, I'll persevere though. Cheers Ian

Hi all It's been a while since I posted on here. I haven't use the KTM (Macina cross 9) until recently, I finished my contract at Westminster and had to get back on a motorbike . As a result the KTM languished in the spare room , charged once in a while but generally untouched. I have now retired (well almost) and moved to France, where the KTM is getting used on an almost daily basis:cool:. Prior to moving here I did ask of a KTM dealer, not the one I originally purchased from, as they were no longer in the same premises (London electric bike company) about getting any and all soft/firmware updates, I'd had nothing done since I bought it in '15, frankly he didn't give a toss and couldn't be bothered to assist. So, I'm now in Bretagne in France and I'm wondering how I can get updates, apparently my nearest dealer is in Luxemburg:rolleyes:. Is it possible to connect on the interweb thingy with someone able to make amendments? Any thoughts would be appreciated Cheers Ian

Hi Colin Thanks for the advice, I'll keep a close eye on the paintwork and probably make a preemptive visit to halfords! Did you have any luck in translating the Bosch handbook? I've given it a go but not had much joy, I saw a download on here which I hoped would assist but, unfortunately it doesn't seem to want to download! I need some decent mudguards for my commute, have you given this any thought or are you happy with the 'rough' look? Cheers Ian

Hi Colin I've just (yesterday) taken delivery of this same model, although I believe mine is the 2016 spec, apart from the ride home, 3 miles at most, I haven't had chance to give it a bit of a go yet, I did beat the missus back from the shop, through Kingston upon Thames centre, by a good 5 mins though! Originally I wanted the the Fun 9 but it wasn't available in a 56cm frame so ended up with the Cross. Once I've done some miles we'll have to exchange notes. What rack are you getting? Cheers Ian

Hi All
Ah thieves with a misplaced sense of humour eh? Bastids! I think the ug car park I'll be using is two floors down with a single guarded entrance, pinning my hope on that being fairly secure, I also ride motor bikes so am well aware of the thief horror stories. Will have a Google for the 8 fun crank drive, thank you again trex. Cheers Ian

Hi All
Hi Trex I have access to a pretty secure underground car park, so I hope it will be OK, wouldn't dream of using such a thing if I couldn't secure it well, than you very much for the advice though Cheers Ian

Hi All
Hi All Well I've sort of narrowed it down, looking specifically at a Machina fun 9 or a Kalkhoff Pro Connect 10, hopefully I'll get a chance to give them both a test ride this bank holiday weekend, I will report back my findings. In the interim has anyone got any alternative suggestions for similar types of bike? I'd really appreciate any contributions as it's something of a large market out there! Cheers Ian

Hi All
Just joined, been lurking for a month or so trying to understand exactly what I'm looking for. Guess what, I still don't know! I decided that I wanted a pedelec after two days commuting into central London, after a quick calculation of costs I decided I NEEDED a pedelec! By my calculation even the Kalkoff at £2k+, I first considered, would be paid for after just a year. My commute is only about 9 miles each way but means I need to negotiate both Kingston and Roehampton hills I'm possibly fit enough to make it on a standard cycle but don't much fancy being the sweaty mess I will be following my journey, I don't fancy breaking out any of the motor bikes I own, too much faffing about for such a short distance, and in central Westminster the car is a non-starter. I'm quite lucky in that I appear to have two well mentioned retailers almost on my doorstep, 50 Cycles in Sheen and The Electric Bike Co (?) in Hampton Wick. Now I just need to make the time to get to visit and draw some conclusions. Anyway, hello and thanks for having me! Cheers Ian
