Shimano SM-BCE60 Steps Battery Charger For BT-E6000 / E6010 with Power Cable
Afternoon all, I have a spare charger which I used to keep at work "just in case". It's now up for grabs as I don't have my bike anymore. Excellent condition, PAT tested less than a year ago at work. Great safety net if you're using your ebike for commuting and fancy a detour. ;-) £60 + £5 postage if needed? Cheers, Dave in Leeds

Terry Scott gets Badasse!
Exactly! And just to dispel the traditionalist view that ebikes do all the work, mainly from "roadies" that I sneak past. I believe I'm actually losing a little weight!!! Something I've not managed in years of organic powered cycling. Wolfie.

Terry Scott gets Badasse!
Afternoon All, Terry and I have been together a few weeks now... http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/terry-scott-lives.23914/ He's my daily mode of transport for reasons detailed in my earlier posts. Rain or shine he's been looking after me on my daily commute of around 20 miles a day with significant hills and gradients both ways. So I thought I'd share my experience! :-) Terry got a Badasse 3.3 dongle installed soon after he arrived as I was continually riding above the 15mph assistance which kind of defeated the objective of getting an ebike. I wanted to get to work a little less sweaty than under my own steam. Fully loaded with two panniers and my good self he's a hefty beast and you soon know when the assistance has dropped off. I'm a keen mountain biker so not averse to a bit of effort but in this case I'm trying to stay efficient. The dongle means I can cruise at around 20mph which I feel is perfect. I can go faster but the Alfine 8 runs out of gears at around 27mph making it a futile exercise. Hills drop me back under 20mph but still not under the 15mph threshold of the standard setup. I toggle assistance but mainly on the way home as I use that as training. On the way to work I use mainly high. I have a spare charger at work in case I fancy a detour on the way home but one charge will get me the full round trip using assistance all the way at different levels with me giving it some beans. Can't help myself! I still get sweaty but maybe not as sweaty as my traditional bikes would get me. I can't help but think it wouldn't be much different on my full carbon road bike but then again that can't carry two panniers full of laptop, clothes, towel, sarnies and other stuff I need in the office. The dongle means my Di2 autoshift is rendered useless as it confuses the firmware by halving the actual speed so I stick with manual. It's not a bad system at all so it's not a chore. The built in lights are brilliant! One less thing to worry about when the rain comes down. I've upgraded the pedals to spd and added bar ends for the head down time trial sections! Haha! Been told off by roadies for cheating as I sail past them. I tell them they'd cheat of they felt the weight of it. But, it's doing a job, I'm enjoying my ride to work in any weather and it's still keeping me fit! Result!!! Thanks all. Dave n Terry! :-) https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B0hG6XBubGs0Dzx

Another dirty weekend!
I've been riding a full sus Orange Segment 29er but have just built up a Stanton Sherpa hardtail in 27plus guise with 3.0 up front and 2.8 at the back. I've not ridden the full sus since! ;-) https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B055qXGF1HIXkk

Cheers! It's the 8 speed Alfine with the Steps power. Low maintenance and the just get on and ride attracted me. I'm forever meddling with gears on my other bikes so wanted this one to just work as it'll be used every day. So far, couple of runs out, works pretty well. Love the noises on acceleration. Has a little indecision or two in auto mode at times but I think it's also a little bit of me learning how to ride it too! I'm cruising mainly outside the assistance zone so range isn't being hit at all it seems. Run out of gears at around 27mph. 7 and 8th almost feel like overdrives. It's a nice ride all in all. It did cross my mind what happens if I do run out of power... do I lose my gears too? Haha! More miles will tell. I'll be trying the Badasse dongle too... purely out of curiosity you understand. ;-) But seriously, I'm thinking full power all the way to work, arrive fresh. Then drop the assistance on the return journey to build by fitness up for mtb'ing at the weekend. Got an Alps trip booked in for July. The extra legs will come in handy! Dave.

Terry Scott Lives! :-)
Thanks Mike, It's certainly been an interesting couple of months! Thankfully work are really supportive and I am able to work from home for most of what I do. Doesn't compensate for my sudden loss of mobility mind. I'm a fanatical mountain biker who would normally be driving up the Lakes, Dales, Peaks, Snowdonia, Tweed Valley, even the Alps in my free and holiday time. Not for the time being. I've a small chance of getting my license back but it's by no means a certainty. Just trying to look on the bright side and relying on my great friends to get me about. Terry is here to help the short term a little easier and little less sweaty. ;-) Dave.

Well, after much advice, guidance, opinion and deliberation I plumped for the one I liked the look of most. Last years model, found a good deal, plus I had the firmware upgraded to enable the Alfine Di2 autoshifting, same head unit. Dealer also threw me in a spare charger to leave at work. Panniers fitted for work and shopping duties. Just waiting on some bar ends and pedals to get the cruising position I like. Had my driving license revoked after 25 years of incident free motoring when a random eye test discovered I'd lost a quarter of my vision in both eyes. All down to a stroke which may have occurred during my birth hence I've never known any different. Fascinating and immensely frustrating all at the same time! Anyhow, I'll let you know how I get on, especially with the autoshifting. For the short term, have a butchers at Terry, he's a Scott. :-) https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B0hG6XBubGs0Dzx Cheers, Dave.

Planning my First Ride...
How did that hub perform DAJ? You set the cadence and let it do its thing? Dave.

Afternoon All!
Thanks DAJ, I actually stumbled across the Cube Hybrid stuff last night. Looks very much like something that would be at home in my garage. The "race" model with the rigid forks has definitely taken my eye! How does the rear hub gear fit in? Dave.

Afternoon All!
Afternoon, I'm looking at pedelec's as an alternative to getting to work without getting sweaty. I've had my driving licence revoked due to a loss of peripheral vision found during a routine eye test for some reading glasses. Should have stuck with my £1.99 Primani classics! I live approx 12 miles away from my work place, not far, but public transport is disjointed with significant walking distances in between. Not really practical. As it happens I'm a really keen mountain biker so it's not like I'd struggle to cycle to work. I just need to avoid the sweating! Been looking at the Specialized Turbo and Scott E-Sub Evo. Need to carry luggage and use it for shopping trips as it'll be my only mode of convenient transport from now on. I'm wanting something that l like the look of too as I own things like Orange Segment, Stanton Sherpa, Cannondale Synapse if you know what they are? Any advice welcome! Thanks in anticipation... Cheers, Dave near Leeds.
