An interesting comparison.
Lazy or not i know i just would not go out at all on my un-powered MTB, thats why its sat in the garage for 3 years, i did think about converting it though... I love going out on my ebikes and go much further than i would have on a normal bike. I am now approaching 60 and recently retired and have long since given the slightest thought to what other people may think. Most of my friends think its great i am getting out and trying to become a bit fitter... some of which are serious naturally aspirated cycle riders.

Battery charging advice
Also the Bosch battery measures no voltage on any pins ! But is showing three bars on the bike which is usual after @25 miles I did measure 4.89V on the charger but I guess that's meaningless.

Battery charging advice
I think you're right ... It has 2 larger contacts and 5 small ones. It's difficult to find a point I could measure the voltage whilst charging. I'll have a look at the Bosch battery and charger (36V) a see if i can measure the voltage disconnected.

Battery charging advice
The charger reads zero volts at the plug, guess it needs to plugged into charging socket for it work? My DVM is a calibrated one that I used before I retired so I would think it's pretty good.

Is there a case for a Power Key for E Bikes
Yes ... Preferably whilst supplying very high voltage to the crotch area of the seat.

Battery charging advice
Just checked the bh battery after an additional couple of hours charge and it now reads 54.3v directly after charging, so I guess that's ok? Or should charge it for longer?

Battery charging advice
Thanks for your detailed replies, i have just finished charging the BH battery from 58% for 4 hours (fully charged green light on) and it reads on my fluke DVM 54.2V , i have now put it back on charge and will measure in a couple of hours. It has done about 110 miles from new and been charged when it gets to about 40% This battery has two main power pins and 5 small contacts on the battery. Does that sound like i am doing the right thing? I'll do the same with the bosch later on today. Both bikes are charged with the battery on the bike if that makes any difference?

Battery charging advice
Hi, Not sure this is in the correct area to ask, but i have BH and Cube ebikes both 2016 recently purchased BH is 48v and Cube is Bosch performance line CX 36v. When i charge them i turn off and disconnect the charger as soon as the light goes green on the BH and when the Bosch system on the Cube display turns off at full charge. My question is should i always let them charge for some time after full charge is indicated ? i guess i am asking how the BMS system works on ebikes... i have looked and cannot find this specific question in the forums,

45 Mile Commute, possible on a eBike?
I have recently bought a Cube Stereo hybrid 140 HPA race mtb, i has the offroad tyres fitted and on the road i get about 42- 45 miles to a charge although i have never acually run out of power or had the last battery bar flashing. It's mainly set in the tour assistance setting which i find makes me work a bit but not too much, i am 58 and weight about 105kg and not very fit to give you some idea. I think its a great bike to ride even on road and well built with good quality suspension/ gears/brakes etc.

Bike theif Car spotters needed
It's sad when these selfish morons have such a profound affect on ordinary people who work and earn their possessions....... Hope you get you bike back and the cops catch the scum. I tried last night, loads of different registration possibilities with no luck, maybe its on false plates?

I actually was intending to buy a haibike all mountain Rc that the dealer had discounted also, but ended up buying the cube Stereo hybrid 140 hpa race with a set of nukeproof pedels thrown in. I am loving the cube.. its totally different to my other ebike (BH 27.5 hardtail) just really smooth and comfortable, just what i need at my age (58) to help me get fitter and loose weight. I'm sure you will like the haibike too, the ones i rode felt good quality ...

I would possibly agree with the haibike but not with the £1200 less than retail I paid for the cube and I did check the spec of the 2017 model and the only difference was the decals. I think it's more to do with last years model being very difficult to sell at retail ( like cars). There are some still trying to sell "new" 2015 models but they look hard to give away.... I think some retailers bit the bullet at the end of the year and get what they can before the value drops more. Just my personal observations on it of course.

Not sure that's entirely true as there are many deals to had on 2016 models since the 2017 ones are released. I have just taken advantage of such a deal, these are on haibike, cube etc so these are good manufacturers.

Cheap Kudos Secret Bikes - Ex Demo's
Hi, Thanks for your reply, I was looking at a fatbike or cross Haibike, is the trekking like a cross with mudguards rack etc? I bought my first ebike a couple of weeks ago and its been an eye opener, I go out with my lad a few times a week as i'm retired so was looking at another ebike we can share. We are both 5ft 11 would the 56cm bike be too big? also do you know the condition and mileage of the trekking Sduro. If I wanted to see it where would it be, I live in Herts but can travel a reasonable distance. Sorry for all the questions... I am a bit new to all this. cheers Dave

Hi, Dave Are you likely to have any Haibike fatsix bikes in your demo sell off?

New member with first e-bike
Actually no, he was laying in a heap at the first hill after 1mile !, to be fair so would I be if I was on a normal bike. Went out again today and he was better, he's not been on a bike for 2-3 years but i'm sure that he will get rapidly better.

Thanks for the replies, had a nice ride over to the lakes today not very far but still felt like we had done some work. The E-bikes make it so much easier, really enjoyed our first trip out, one of my lads came on his normal bike almost killed him!despite being only 20 years old. hopefully we will all get better as time goes by. Attached a couple of pics of the bikes.... Dave

New member with first e-bike
Hello, I have recently joined this forum, so just a quick hello from us. Today my wife and I took delivery of our first e-bikes, I have recently retired early (age 58) and wanted to get out more but our unassisted bikes are a bit too much for us at the moment so I thought we could go further on e-bikes. I have a BH Evo 27.5 and my wife has an Orbea Keram comfort 10, we tried several others before settling on these two, I plan to get out on our first ride tomorrow, not too far just to get accustomed to the e-bike experience. There seems to be a wealth of knowledge on here, we can also share our experience as new riders too... hoping to get a bit more fit and get back to the weight/fitness when we rode regularly. Any advise/knowledge would be greatly received ! regards Dave
