  1. I'm registering my wife's Woosh Big `Bear LS on the immobilise website, but I can't find the serial number on the bike, can anyone help please?
  2. I bought the Big Bear LS for my wife after initially thinking of going for the GTech. Although I live on the edge of the Somerset levels I was aware that once my wife was enjoying riding her electric bike that she might want to go further afield. I have been proved right and as now she has ridden it locally she now wants to go further and not always on the flat! I'm impressed with the range of the bike, her last trip of 45 miles was easily within the batteries range, it now means we can get out together, with me on my carbon road bike. My Garmin gps measured the average speed of just over 15mph over 45 miles. The bike weighs 27 kilos (according to the weight stamped on the box it came in) but on the flat my wife found it relatively easy to pedal and the boost on power level 2 made the inclines we met no problem. The swept back handlebar angle makes the ride comfy.
  3. No, but it is being being marketed as an MTB would it not be normal to assume the 30 miles claim is for cross country?
  4. So it's 5.6ah times 36v equals 201watts. From the advert it certainly looks the same battery on the road version. Posts on here seem to indicate a MTB ebike might not get much distance at all over off road hilly terrain, after all, that's what a MTB is for?
  5. Looks like the same 5.6ah battery though? That won't do the 30 miles it claims off road and hills surely?
  6. Thanks for the advice Trex, but my wife really liked the Big Bear LS and I've ordered it this afternoon and I'll get it Thursday. As I said in earlier posts she's Dutch and the bike reminds her of home!
  7. Well, my wife has decided she wants a Whoosh Big Bear LS. Is there just the one dealer in Southend? I live in Weston Super Mare, just about as far west as you can go from there!
  8. It was ok with the returns requirements until I read the penultimate line, "We reserve the right to reject a return at our discretion."
  9. Sure, but I can I can imagine the protracted wrangling trying to get my money back and the endless excuses
  10. Trying to decide on buying an ebike using distance selling is not helped by statements like this, https://www.aero-bike.co.uk/14-day-trial I would not buy from them under these rules, read the last line get out clause
  11. Trex, what's the score on whoosh big bear trial?
  12. Just thought ide get the forum back on ebike track
  13. Whoosh bikes state day that bikes ordered after 1st November will increase by £30 to £50 due to currency rates
  14. Careful with the 14 day trials, one I looked at said, we only accept returns within 14 days f it's unused! For a bike!!
  15. I'm now undecided, I've been looking at the Whoosh Big Bear, but worried over seeing one and test riding as I think the shop is in Southend?
  16. I wonder if GTech will let my wife ride a 30 mile circuit next week? That would be an eye opener! I think ebike battery range is just like "how long is a piece of string"
  17. So a good rule of thumb is to expect 20 miles of normal use from a 250W machine?
  18. Well I'm off on holiday tomorrow and will visit onbike and GTech. Armed with all I have picked up on here. Whether we have agreed or not thanks anyway.
  19. Just had a look at the Onbike website as its also in Worcester. The Raleigh Motus claims; Bosch 400Wh battery – 190km max range with Eco From what I've learned on here that sounds impossible! Also their lowest priced step through bike is £1.999 far above my price range unfortunately. The other bikes in that price range don't state range. But as im in Worcester and onbike is so close I will visiit them
  20. soundwave, the site is called bga reworking, are these cheaper batteries reconditioned then?
  21. I wonder why GTech put such a small battery on their bike? The battery sells for £300, surely a 10ah battery would not be £600?
  22. That was exactly my idea. The comment I was unlikely to get more than 10 miles from a 5.6 ah battery depends on so many variables, bike weight, my wife's weight, how hard she pedals, terrain, wind, temperature and battery condition! I did notice some of the bikes on Kudoscycles quoted 30 to 60 miles range, you can understand where such a range comes from
  23. I'm in the area, so a hassle free test ride looks fair. Do you have any data to prove the 10 miles range claim? That would help me decide, especially if you've ridden one? As a lot of ebikes are circa 24 Kilos, 50% heavier than the Gtech, what about power to weight ratio, is that not a factor? I did say earlier I live on the Somerset levels and hills are just not around, except for bridges over the M5!
  24. As i'm visiting what I presume is Gtechs HQ, it will be interesting to see the real estate of the ebike section as opposed to the hoover. it's sheer coincidence, albeit a fortuitous one, that i'm in Worcester! I'm not sure I would want to go to the hassle of getting it on 14 days trial then having to pack it back up and return it. If I dont purchase, I will have to plan my next long weekend near the next ebike outlet! I will ask questions of the company based on points I have seen on here; 1. Will I get support during and after the initial warranty period, as im worried once they have sold all the reduced price bikes they might drop the product 2. Is there a version planned with a larger capacity battery in the near future, as that would affect the possible future selling value of my purchase 3. What proven data do they have to justify the claimed 30 miles from a 5.6ah battery and what type of lithium technology is the battery utilising These are fair questions to ask before purchasing. I don't think I would purchase on the day anyway, as I would want to digest and check up on the answers.
  25. I surely will, my test ride wont be Monday now though, it will be midday Wednesday, so more info later on that day and i'm still looking at other bikes mentioned on here, especially one i saw with a 15ah battery
