1. One month out of warranty and both wires fail... Not sure how to fix this! Overall very satisfied with the bike. 2000km mostly offroad with some heavy abuse. The only thing I don't like are the brakes. Tried everything but are still quite week.
2. Compared to the power you need to move the bike, the motor resistance is not important. Don't let this be a decisive factor.
3. I must say I have a completely different experience with WALK assist. And I use it A LOT. I usually climb local hill tops, that only have foot paths, so I need to push the bike very often. In 1st gear the bike is almost too fast for me if I am a bit tired already. One thing is annoying though. If traction is not good, the assist tends to cut out, and than start again, so I lean on the seat a bit, for better traction and some help to me. It works great!
4. I had a first ride after fixing/cleaning yesterday. After descending for a while the brakes started squealing (I hope that's the right word) (making a LOT of high pitched noise). Also I could smell them, but did not dare to touch them. After cooling down, now I would say they work a bit better, but they started to lock/unlock/lock/unlock when braking hard. Right before I stop. I will buy original pads today and see if that makes any difference.
5. This is how my disc looks.
6. From what I have read on the bosch site, and from experience, I would say it depends on all three parameters.
7. True! It also depends on cadence and speed.
8. I changed the pads from original Shimano to cheap Chinese... no difference. I have worn the originals down to zero in 300 miles. Perhaps I will really get new/better/bigger brakes for the next season.
9. Discs have definitely changed color! Will add pictures later.
10. Brakes probably did overheat a few times, but they work the same from day 1. Without applying the brakes, the wheel spins freely. there is a small gap between the pads and the disc. Just to clarify. The wheel does lock when brakes are applied. But the brakes let go a bit, if I push the bike hard.
11. No. I used the middle screw to move them further away. They are mildly stiff for the first 2cm of travel, and than very stiff for the rest.
12. No. It is a fixed value in other modes. Like always 200% the torque you input. But it is not a fixed value in this mode. To correct myself! "Like always max 200%"
13. I have Shimano BR-M315 hydraulic brakes on my Cube, but the braking power feels very low. I tried adding some oil, letting the air out, changing brake pads, cleaning the discs... Everything I could think of, but it still feels week. Actually none of the steps improved anything. How week the brakes actually are. I can push the bike forward slightly when holding the brake with full power. I really have to try hard, but I can get the wheel to spin a little. Or for example, when coming to a full stop, I can not brake hard enough to come even close to lifting the rear wheel. Are my expectations too high, or should the wheel be 100% blocked when braking fully?
14. No, the new modes are OFF ECO TOUR EMTB and TURBO I just don't see much use for TOUR and TURBO, since EMTB covers their power range.
15. Had the new SW installed a few days ago. eMTB mode works great. It replaces SPORT and makes TOUR and TURBO obsolete. I used to have to switch between modes all the time (in the mountains), but now I can really just leave it in eMTB.
16. I ran out of power for the first time, yesterday. After 52 miles and some nice views So now I can confirm that the Bosch system just turns off when battery is empty. No warning, nothing! Fortunately it happened 100m from home, in the middle of the last climb.
17. Yesterday I was told the firmware update will be available on 10. July for purion computers, and later in July for others.
18. EddiePJ Yes, I have 15/42T and it suits me fine, for now. That climb looks great! Have fun!
19. Oh, I see. I understand that, but do I really get 540W for 30 minutes riding at full power? Electric motors can be overloaded for seconds, not hours.
20. Where do you get this powers? Bosch CX is 250W.
21. How did you get it? New bike? It supposed to be available from July.
22. My Bosch CX has enough torque and power to easily get me up the steepest hills. Sometimes really just about to fall of the back. But I do use 1st gear and SPORT mode on those occasions. I found no info to suggest the new eMTB mode will give more power at lower cadence? In my understanding, it will seamlessly provide low to high power depending on user input. This should solve the current problem with riding in SPORT. The moment you stop pressing hard on the pedals, the motor cuts out. And then again gives too much power when you start. So I really change modes all the time when in the mountains.
23. Had a nice mountain ride yesterday, with not so nice ending. Pinched tube and tyre :(
24. Li-ion batteries like to be at 50%. So keep it there when you don't need it. (40-80% is fine) I only charge to full the night before the ride. Yes, this is kinda inconvenient sometimes, but I would like to have my battery in top shape for many years to come. Especially with the prices Bosch has for a new one.
25. EddiePJ , what's the catch with the self-balancing bike in your pics?
