905SE
Thanks. I’ll take some photos of the motor. It has no display. It’s one of the first 905se’s from about 11 years ago. Still in great condition. Display would be a nice to have.

905SE
Hi, I have a Wisper 905SE. I bought from the New Forest store, quite some years ago. It still runs well and the original battery still holds a charge, mostly. I love this bike, and would like to do some plug and play upgrades. It has the original off road button etc. What’s the best options , new controller, better motor etc. I know there is another thread around this, something more granular would be good. Thanks!

REPORT: My Wisper 905Se Arrives
Got my Wisper 905SE too Got my Wisper from New Milton the other week - picked it up as I live nearby. Put it together without instructions - a relatively simple process. Still got to fit the computer etc - what is the diameter of the wheel? Love the bike - rode it to work and back today. No problems with hills - in fact its faster than my 24 speed commuter up hill. Passed a few other cyclists - one lycra clad- whilst enjoying a cigarette! Cant get over what a quality bike this is, only one issue - the left rubber hand grip is loose and I have to keep pushing it back on. Excellent dealings with the company - all in all one of the best things Ive ever purchased! Also just bought an ALMAX lock - as these cannot be bolt cropped - check out their wall of shame! very interesting - another nice company to deal with - even gave me free postage! Almax Security Chains Limited Regards Griswold

Powabyke initial impressions
Happy with my Commuter Shame about your problem with the bike. Ive had no problems with mine so far. Peformance was fine with the old lead acid battery - Ive ridden it everywhere in top gear even up Portsdown hill and several other hills around the Portsmouth area. Performance is good with the new lithium battery too. The only annoying thing about the bike is the ridiculous freewheel noise - makes me feel kinda embarrased at times! Is there a mod to stop this? I hate it! If I had known about the new Powabykes coming out I may not have bought the Lithium!

Powabyke with Lithium and Suspension
Took delivery of my new Lithium Battery yesterday. Tried the bike out (24 Speed Commuter) tonight so much different. Very much lighter (the bike)- easier to pick up and move around. Great ride - check the picture - Ive replaced the tractor seat saddle too! Going to put some different mudguards on too. The bike doesnt look so fuddy duddy now! in my opinion! Decided to keep the bike - got a good local dealer, so they can get any parts I may need etc. I was toying with buying another bike but decided to keep it - it hasnt let me down and I kind of like it - in a rugged sort of way! http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn277/griswold_2008/P4230001.jpg

Urban Mover Powabyke
Thanks Thanks - the prices though are £350 for the 20 mile one and £250 for the Lite version - unless you know where I can get it at the £285! I want also want a bike I can take to Center Parcs - cant see the Powabyke fitting easilt on a cycle carrier! Regards

Urban Mover Powabyke
I was thinking of perhaps buying an Urban Mover UM36 - 2007 Model. Are these any good? I hear on this forum of dire support from the company. Is this still the case? Are batteries readily available? parts etc? I see there is a new model out UM36X is it any good? I still have my Powabyke Commuter with suspension forks - which are adjustable for hardness! Still havent bought a lithium battery yet - the price is astonomical for what it is - I could put down a large deposit on a Wisper 905se or UM36X for this? Any info? Regards Chris

Powabyke Commuter Forks
My Powabyke commuter isnt too bad normally. Ive changed the rather hideous saddle for a Body Geometry Gel saddle. This helps to soak up the bumps. Normally its OK on the hands - its just at speed downhill when you hit a bump and you almost lose your grip - Ive found that I can operate the front brake with one finger, and the rear with 2 fingers so Im not in danger of losing control. Ive ridden the bike up Portsdown hill several times near where I live, coming down at speed is great fun and will be better with the suspension forks. I ride the bike flat out pedalling most if the time - Im rarely out of the top gear. The pedal assistance is great. I wouldnt usually bother with my normal bike at all if I didnt have the commuter. Ive seem some great sunsets over Portsmouth from Portsdown Hill - its fun. Im going for the Lite 2.5 KG Lithium battery option soon, so in my opinion the bike will improve vastly. It looks better without the mudguards and carrier which Ive removed. Overall for my purposes its a great bike. When I said its a shame Powabyke dont publicise more, I meant that I wouldnt have known about the forks if I hadnt contacted Powabyke on a different matter, they told me about the forks in passing. I check their website out sometimes - and it doesnt appear to be updated often - WHY? They have a good product, they are making improvements - Let us know about them!

Powabyke Commuter Forks
Hello, Ive heard that Powabyke are releasing retro fit suspension forks for the Commuter bike - should be available in 4 weeks time. Should be good - will improve the bike, I own one and dont like my hands almost coming off the grips when going downhill fast, braking and hitting bumps in the road.

Powabyke 24 speed commuter saddle
Many thanks Ive replaced it at last! It was easy to do and looks much better than the tractor seat saddle! Regards Griswold

My Torq Story
Some manufacturers obviously play the marketing game - the fact that some bikes can be easily derestricted is one of them, I suppose they appeal to our inherent need to show off - hey look at me? It reminds me of owning a 50CC moped (Honda MB50) in the 1980's and we all thought about ways to make them go faster - micron exhausts etc, which really only created noise, could have bought a Yamaha FSIE but didnt, these were legally faster but they were ugly! Its in us all to try and improve things, but you shouldnt have to improve yourself, something you have paid a lot of money for! I toyed with the idea of selling my Powabyke 24 speedcommuter- not a popular brand of bike on this forum! and listed it - didnt have much interest. I came to my senses and thought, it does what I want it to do ie climb hills, also its legally restricted, I dont want to be involved in an accident and be liable, and be prosecuted for an illegal bike - I have small kiddies to think about! Yes its heavy but Lithium batteries are out this month, Im going to get one - 2.7KG in weight and this bike will do for me. Ive also changed the saddle - thanks to the advice on this forum. Overall Im happy with the performance - the dealer network is good. I read about the Presteigne Rally and yes a good idea, however, was it really all about speed? How can you win if some bikes are inherently faster than others? I thought the whole thing fairly ludicrous! a showcase again for hey look at me everyone! They should have had an event to see how far the bikes would go on pure power - with pedalling on hills only - this would represent how most of these bikes are used? At least the event is good to showcase new bikes and to bring to the general publics attention the good things these bikes can do - for the environment, saving petrol and for cutting down on traffic. I suppose the market is at an early stage for electric bikes and can only improve! Griswold

Powabyke Lithium
Yes reasonable price I suppose. Im in 2 minds about whether to sell the Powabyke and buy a Torq. The Powabyke is OK - looks better without the mudguards etc not so fuddy! (in my opinion) Its a reliable well built bike - I may keep it - considering Id get a lot less back than what I paid for it. Shame it cant be derestricted for use off the road! I dont see many Powabyke owners on the forum, they seem popular in the states - there is even a Dr Powabyke blog!
