Will run but at max controller amps of 25 which is what its set to out the box but good chance of blowing the controller. Drop it to 20amps and works fine for thousands of miles but no gurantee for every motor. Some guides say 18, up to you.

Doubt ebikes are going anywhere / a fad can only see the industry getting larger I also never cycled but always fancied buying / building an ebike for work commute finally did it actually prefer it to the car more interesting and like the idea of less road taxes / mots / insurances / fuel and these costs rising along with the push for expensive EV's and green infrastructure. It doesn't take that much longer to commute also (10-15 mins) that was a big eye opener. Did a 40 mile ride out the other day for no reason used to think cyclists were nutters doing those kind of mileages+ but it passes so quick on an ebike. Lost roads and routes are opened doors once again. For towns, cities and local rural ebikes along with the electric scooters / skateboards depending on legislation really is the future younger generations won't own cars or even driving licences the way we do now some don't bother with them already preferring to rent IPhone 27 XTRRRRRRZ black edition £250 a month unlimited data (mining). Already seeing it starting to creep in with renting EV's for £359+ for 1 month rolling contracts everything included.

Agree with all of the above that was my intention was to steer it to unless you are a manufacturer compliance with 250w, 15.5mph, no full acting throttle, off road modes, passwords, no dongles etc is all irrelevant unless you have a serious crash which answers the OP's question of how they can sell 1000w bikes or 10000w bikes if they wish

Isn't it also the case where all home built / modified are technically illegal regardless of 250w 15mph making enforcement largely unenforceable?
