Tour de France.
Back in the 70's I was a member of Ealing Harriers cycle club. On weekends we would ride down to the coast, take in refurbishments, and ride back. Brooks saddles rule. After stopping at 'the Bull' a pub in Barnes (please breathe in I want to take a sip of my pint) we rode home. These guys are for real and have my utmost respect. 30 years on when I get out my Evans lightweight and go to work on it, no one comes past me. I know enough to realise just how good the guys are. Respect due.

Just plain NiMh battery packs
Batteries are like people, give them a light workload and they live a long and healthy life. Work them into the ground and R.I.P. Always buy batteries larger than you think you need. Oh! and NiMh do not need to be drained, infact it shortens their useful life.

Getting flats about every 2 weeks
A small amount of air pumped into the tube before you push the tyre back over rim reduces the chance of pinching. Also buy only quality tubes, there are some really rubbish ones about at the moment. Oh! and kelvar reinforced tyres (like Michelins ) are worth their weight in gold. Good luck, FatPete.

New Biker
I promise it will be worth the wait, I'm old enough to have been through the big bike phase (cbr 1000, wing, sportster), Had two Autosleepers (utopian and rhapsody) But when your gliding effortlessly along your favourite lanes your gonna have a big smile on your face. Keep the faith....Regards FatPete.

Embarassing moments.....
How about parking your classic (wasn't when I did this) M.G. outside the Pub. With all my freinds and about 50 other people sitting outside in the garden. Shut door, go to run across busy road to join them. catch foot in non-innertia reel seatbelt and enter nose-road interface. Casually ask if anyone wants a drink while I go and get some tissues to stop the bleeding.

LiIon update for the Blade electric motorcross
I have a 40meg video of the pre-production bikes back when they used sla's. I was really interested, right up untill I found out the wanted £3500 + shipping. And this was a few years ago. With Li ion, Bill Gates would need to sign the cheque.

Cyclist age
Word of warning When my son was 14 I bought him a hurricane (same as a tornado). He had it a few weeks before he was attacked by three much older and bigger boys who took his bike from him. He limped home and I phoned the police. The Policeman said (thanks Ealing Police station), "well what do you want us to do about it". Three years later we still haven't got the bike back and the police never even visited us. £550 lost and a boy who terrified to go out for weeks after. So people don't set your kids up as targets!
