I've got to say I've been impressed with this bike so far, 2100km on the odo now and the winter commute done quite admirably, it let me down once when I'd come home for lunch and the display wouldn't come on, being short of time I jumped on my mtb and the tyres were a little flat at the bottom so it was a shock to the system ➗ About due a chain but the back tyre is looking a little worn, an mtb riddler I think but I'll do that when I do the chain. The display issue was fixed by removing/refitting the battery but I have to say I'm more impressed with the usefulness of the bike than I expected to be. :D

I need some Propane gas dropping off as my shed heater ran out yesterday as far as it goes, I did look into a 2nd hand diesel heater a long while back but stuck with bottled gas as I prefer it, I don't have a big carbon footprint but aren't an environmentalist so don't think much about this net zero lunacy tbh.

The one above seized in York I very much doubt would 'do' 103 mph to be honest but the hub motor is obviously way oversized, I've no paperwork for mine but it has a hard to read epac sticker on the wheel side of the lower seat tube. I can ghost pedal at 27 kilometers an hour too

Although I don't disagree I do think we should leave the NHS alone Although I'm a drain on their resources they've kept me alive now for 41 years and never charged me for any prescription and in theory (not every clinical commissioning group sticks to the rules) the NHS provides more or less the best type 1 diabetes care in the world, even if as currently they're performing the poorest I've seen them in that timeline.

If you have a small triangle file (needle file) you can if you're patient clean the damaged thread up as far as it goes. There's actually a tool called a 'thread file' for the job but they're uncommon (and useful)

The bike's just passed a 1000km on the milometer (I so wish it was miles ) so I thought I'd revisit my post, pedal assist certainly make life easier, I broke the bike yesterday temporally by turning the display off and on when I meant to press the + button, the display wouldn't switch back on, 'twas lunchtime from work and I'd popped home, I didn't have time to look so rode back home again and swapped bikes (pedalling is certainly more of an effort) but when I got back I removed and refitted the battery and the display came back on luckily. Ghosting the pedals is a joy too.

There's a thought as my pedelec did it's first snow ride yesterday and was fine and if I can come back in 4 months and say the same I'll be laughing, it needs its headset tightening, some cleaning/lubing of the rear mech in the next week as it'll have done 1000kmas a commuter/shopper bike. My poor proper mountain bike is feeling neglected anyway.

For the bike, yes and no, the socket is a 3.5mm jack socket and the plug needs 3 'lands', like stereo plus one, but from there needs to run through a 'peak-can' adapter which I'm guessing is a chipset to output data readable by the usb. I had a similar thing as you mention for a Ford Focus, ebay sold me a disk and an OBD lead to usb that I could plug in and reset the engine management light (needed o2 sensors but didn't say up or downstream and it was old and I wasn't going to do one for the laugh so I left it) and that worked ok but used more than 3 wires I think. 'Peak' and 'Peak-Can' are products by 'Peak', for different onboard diagnostics, the lead I'd need is priced at £250 and it'd not be much more for a full kit so I'll not be getting the correct one but will look at what's out there but aren't hopeful I'll find a work around.

I'm happy doing my own servicing, I grew up fixing my own cars and scooters (I've still got my old strobe light for ignition timing somewhere) so the spanner's a wind up, simply 'cos I can't reset it and aren't paying a shop to do it, I have a copy of the dealer manual so can see what a proper tech can mess around with. My next electric bike will likely have smaller wheels and be from a kit, but hopefully that's way in the future.

Unless it's about an e-bike can-bus as they're very off-putting for a meddler or locked ones certainly are, the ones that display a spanner sign at 500km without the ability to turn it off, the spanner's like a little swear word generator to be honest Although now at 2 months in and I discovered a trick, I'm used to feeling myself pedalling the motor once I reach 25kmh, the extra few kmph I can get is tiring but at level 5 of 8 assist I can lightly spin the pedals when in or around the middle of the rear gear cluster and the bike just glides along on the motor, which is an odd sensation. As far as it goes I voted leave, and have no regrets.

I should say I'm what they call a type 1 diabetic or an insulin junkie and although I'm mostly healthy, viral infections alter my insulin needs quite a lot so for me vaccines are a good thing, but I'm drinking a mug of Tetley as we speak, before I look up nettle root as I'm up twice a night for a pee as I drink a lot of tea.

Tetley tea bags for me though I was brought up on Ringtons loose leaf tea, for me the flu jab's worth it and the only year I forgot, I got flu and lost 3/4 of a stone in a week with me needing twice the insulin I'd have normally. I'd had 4 covid jabs before I got covid and only lost 1/4 of a stone but I didn't shield as advised, but yeah, tea is good

I get a freebee flu jab every year an have had since the 90's I think, but then the NHS has kept me alive for 41 years and that'll have cost more than I've paid in. I'd never had hay fever till I had the AZ vaccine.
