  1. Has anyone tried these to help keep their hands warm? BreezeBlockers - Hand and foot shields for cyclists.
  2. I voted for 1 & 4. I think all cyclist should have some form of training & test and I would include parts of the driving test (theory and hazard perception tests) because I think they apply equally to any road user. I would also require all cycle owners to have third party insurance. For car drivers I think the relevant part for a retest is primarily theory and hazard perception tests because road signs change and our reactions slow.
  3. Bring in a law like they have in France, cars have to pass cyclists with 1m clearance in towns and 1.5m outside towns. Do that over here and then getting cyclists cylcing both ways in a 20mph limit about 1m from the kerb means cars would have lots of problems overtaking which would slow them down.
  4. If that light is bright what would this one be like Hot 11000 Lumens 9 x CREE XML XM-L T6 LED Flashlight super Torches Light | eBay
  5. I looked at the ebay add but it is a little confusing. You say it is for 26" 48v 250w folding bike but also go on to list front and rear 20" conversion kits and "there fornt, rear few missing accessories". Can you either post or pm me exactly what you have for sale plus how old the 3 things are (complete bike with battery, front kit and rear kit). Thanks
  6. I think the power of the motor is not what needs limiting, it is the speed. 250w in Holland may be great where 99% of the country is flat and probably 80%+ cycle anyway so they are fairly fit and elec assist is just a bonus. In countries like the UK with plenty of hills and even some mountains you need the power to get up them to encourage more cycling even if it is assisted. Therefore the law should only cover two things - (1) maximum speed the motor will power the bike to and (2) possibly a maximum weight (bike, rider and trailer).
  7. These look even more eye catching and must be great for being seen when you cycle across a junction: Monkey Light M232 Bike Light - 32 Full Color LEDs - 42 Patterns - Waterproof: Amazon.co.uk: Sports & Outdoors
  8. Thanks for that unfortunately it says I have used up all my free uses. Anyone know the doty code for electric motors for bikes.
  9. D8veh, dont know if you have fitted one of these on a Trike but having looked on their website the obvious question is where do you clamp the bracket to because on a normal bike its to the frame in front of the crank but on a trike the crank is at the front of a boom so there is nothing in front to clamp it to unless you rotate is 180 degrees so motor is on top. Also looking at the question section it says the motor cutrs out when pedelling, surely to maximise range you want a mix of man and motor power? On the issue of buying from USA/China I saw a post on here about people ordering lots of gear, just wonder the odds and cost of having to pay import duty and VAT, could £520 suddenly turn into £1000?
  10. If you go to the Camden shop the guy there has put one on a trike, he also has a BOSS Super System on the back wheel. Given him a few days notice and you could try it.
  11. Two recent experiences: Electric Bike Shop (London Bridge, London) - turned up at shop to have a look at a couple of their bikes, rep said he was free if I wanted to test them. He road one and I the other around Borough/Elephant Castle and we swapped bikes half way so I could try them both. Electric Transport Shop (Camden, London) - popped in to have a look at possible kits for coverting Trike. Having had a look at them he said he had the same kit on a bike and I was welcome to take it for a spin around Camden - all he had was my email address, no checks/deposit. These are the type of shop I would do business with.
  12. I have an ICE T26 (details http://www.icetrikes.co/Downloads/ICE_Trice_flyer_2_09_zigzag.pdf) which weights 35.9lbs/16.28Kg plus my weight is 11st 7lb/73kg so an overall combined weight of 13st 9lb/89.3kg plus kit. Now lots of newbie type questions. I am looking for a rear wheel motor setup. As it will be used on and off road (tracks) I would like it to be capable of speeds in excess of 15mph with a decent range (no steep hills). Having read several threads on this forum BMS Battery seems to be a good source of parts/kits but not sure the likelihood/cost of customs imposing import duty and VAT. Whilst it is obvious that most kits will provide 15mph I am not sure how I go about getting speeds in excess of that. What I have been looking at (no idea if I'm right) are the Bafang 36v/48v 350v/500w and the MagicPie 1000w motors. In terms of a battery I guess I need something like the 48V 20Ah 38120 LiFePO4 Battery for power/range. Any advice gratefull received.
  13. Just got myself a Volt Pulse and now think of converting my ICE Trice T26 so looking for options about what to use to convert it. Target is more around range than exceeding on road speed limit.
