Thanks soundwave once more. The nearest store is Harrogate. I will contact them, should the local mobile mechanic be unable to fix the bike. Harrogate is 80 miles away and two trains for me. No car and scared of covid, as my ME was originally triggered by a virus. Long covid is no fun.

Thanks Soundwave. A mobile mechanic is visiting the LBS and he may have the equipment to get it working. Looking on line, this bike has an older system. Plan B is finding a local Shimano Di2 dealer. Anybody know of one ?

I today visited the Evans store, to leave a bike for repair. I noticed two Pinnacle Mercury e bikes small/medium in stock. Both reduced from £995 to £769. Bafang 45nm rear hub motor, 374 Wh frame integrated battery, hydraulic disc brakes, 8 speed and fittings for mudguards. Made in Taiwan not China, according to the "Cycling Electric " magazine. For this specification worth a look for anybody with a limited budget, first e bike or bike to work bike. Look like a very good deal. Battery replacement availability should be checked out. Hello fellow members, I wonder if anybody knows either how to fix this, or where in the north east, I might find the answer ? The electronic shifting stopped working, after the bike fell over and I fiddled with the MU 75 motor shifting unit. I bought another used one from e bay. On fitting the new one, the local bike shop found the error E 030 appears on the handlebar computer and no assistance from motor is given. Strangely, the gears DO still shift though. The mechanic has a friend, who may be able to wire the bike up to a PC and fix it. Possibly the setting is for 11 speed, where the hub fitted is 8 speed. We are all struggling a bit here. I know the gearing can be made mechanical again, but this is a last resort. Does anybody have experience of this problem and how to fix it? Are there any shimano STEPS dealers with the equipment and expertise in the north east ? Thanks Steve Gray

Dear All, I wonder if anybody can help ? I have a KTM Ventura with Shimano STEPS motor and Di 8 speed hub. After developing a fault, I found it necessary to buy a second hand MU 705 motor changing unit. Bike at local independent shop now, as other works needed as well. When the new motor unit is connected (but not fitted to the rear wheel) , a display error E 030 appears and the power will not turn on. When using the up and down gear shift buttons on the handlebar electronic selector, there are 11 separate movements in the motor, not the expected 8. I wonder if the Di system has to be set for 8 speed again ? And how would this be done ? Any thoughts, experiences and suggestions very welcome. Steve Gray

If anybody is still riding an e bike with the Panasonic 26 Volt mid drive motor, I have two spares. One unused motor sprocket and one used jockey wheel assembly. Free to collect from Winlaton Mill, 6 miles from Newcastle. Alternatively £3.50 posted.

Batteries and charger SOLD. Frame minus forks with 26V faulty Panasonic mid drive motor free to collect, for a few days, then if no takers for scrap.

I have sadly had to scrap my Raleigh Dover e bike. I now have two batteries for the Panasonic 26 volt crank drive system. One is 10aH and the other 18Ah. All 5 lights on when charged for both batteries. The larger one has a broken carry handle but this does not affect performance. Also an original working charger and battery to frame lock. This Panasonic system was used on many early Kalkhoff e bikes , Raleigh Dover, Raleigh Leeds Tour and Swiss Flyer, among others. Motor issue was the problem. If anybody wants the frame with motor still in it, that's free to collect. Only for a few days, then to scrap. Asking £40 for both batteries, charger and lock, no offers at this price. Collection with cash from Winlaton Mill, 6 miles from Newcastle.

Thanks Andy-Mat for your helpful suggestion. The charger is with my brother just now, as he attempts to repair it. On your link the e bay one from Germany (used) is the right one .It has an adaptor for the battery. My original doesnot need an adaptor. Any alternative chargers out there ?

My charger for E6000 Shimano STEPS battery has stopped working. Looking on line, I see the new chargers have a smaller battery connector, not compatible with the old one. Worse still, the adaptor costs almost £40, incredible for a small plastic and metal item. The obvious question is, can I adapt another non Shimano 4 pin 42v 3A charger, by connecting the existing battery connector to it ? Alternatively, does anybody have a good second hand Shimano one for sale ? Thanks Stephen Gray

Can you give me the frame size please ?

It is some years since I tried this on a 20 inch wheel Dahon, non assisted bike. Starting from Scarborough, it was indeed very rough n parts. This is symptomatic of the British attitude to off road cycle routes. Billions for road improvements and a few scraps for those 22nd class citizens, those unwashed cyclists. Next time a politician talks about climate change emergency.....I feel like forcing them to cycle for 6 months.

Hello Artspeck, Thanks for your very useful information. If you decide to sell your Freego please let me know. For now it would be good to know the wheel size and length when not folded. My friend has to store it in a small communal cupboard. She has bought an E glide now but may well do better on a throttle equipped bike.

A friend suffers from ME and is largely house bound. She would certainly benefit from a small folding e bike with full power on throttle. As she lives in a flat, it has to be stored on the ground floor in a small communal area. I know current regulations do not permit this full power throttle, without a special MOT test and certificate. What I would really like to find is a second hand one with Grandfather rights. Do members have any suggestions as to which models to look out for please ? Thanks
