walk assist mode
I’ve never used walk assist and cannot really think of any circumstance where I would use it. Mind you, I’ve never tried to push a bike up a mountain

Battery BMS operation
When charging a battery does the BMS balance the cells continually as the voltage rises or only after the voltage reaches the desired maximum. I always leave the charger on after the green light comes on until it‘s cold ( about a hour ) to ensure the balancing has had time to finish. I‘m not sure whether this is a good procedure or not. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Varstrom
Sadly my favourite UK dealer was not able to supply a kit with the display I wanted. Varstrom have a UK distribution facility so the price on their website includes all taxes and UK shipping.

Varstrom
Just wondered what views people have regarding this company. I’m considering buying a Bafang mid drive kit, they seem competitive on price and can supply the display I want. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Shimano hub oil substitute
Thank you for that, I’ll talk to my local bike shop as well.

Shimano hub oil substitute
My bike has a Shimano Inter 7 internal hub gear and I‘ve just become aware that the mechanism should be re-oiled after a year. The problem is the cost of the official Shimano oil ( >£80/litre). I’m looking for a substitute at a more realistic price, any suggestions? Many thanks.

What do you think of my new bike?
I hope you intend to introduce a step through version of the bike. The Woosh Santana is looking a bit dated now IMO.

Where to buy 48v battery
I have dealt with Woosh for many years and my experience has always been positive. I have recently bought a new 20Ah battery ( and charger) for OH’s Woosh Petite and the advice and service were exemplary. I’m just a satisfied customer with no personal axe to grind, I think you could buy with confidence from them.

Woosh Rambla
Thanks, I have made other arrangements now.

Woosh Rambla
I don’t envy you running your business in the current circumstances. I’m sure you would sell many more bikes if you could only get your hands on them!

Woosh Rambla
I phoned Woosh yesterday to enquire about their Rambla. They advised me the frame is being redesigned and that none would be available for at least a year. To say I was shocked is an understatement, I wonder what existing owners think ?

Clacking noise - Kalkhoff Impulse 2 motor
My Tasman Impulse 2 ( now 700 miles ) makes the same whining noise as the problem bikes but not the clicking noises. It is however nowhere near as quiet as the BBS01 motor on my Pashley Parabike conversion.

NEC show
My first visit to the Cycle Show yesterday, a thoroughly enjoyable day My first port of call was the Kalkoff stand manned by Anthony from 50Cycles Bristol branch. I particularly wanted to try the Include Evo with 8 speed Nexus hub, belt drive with the step through frame and to compare it to my Tasman Impulse 8 HS. The new Evo motor was much quieter than my Impulse 2 and the new 17Ah battery ( with 6 contacts now, up from 5 ! ) seemed to be integrated into the frame in a far better way. The display showed far more information. I was impressed with the belt tensioning arrangement although the adjusters are inboard of the chain stays so not easy to get to. I also tried the Whisper 905 torque which I was particularly impressed by and the Gazelle C330 HM with the NuVinci hub. All in all a good day

Kalkhoff Pro Connect Impulse 9 / 10 (9-G/10-G)
It's a safety feature. If your battery ran out on a ride you would be without lights, with a dynamo obviously that doesn't happen. Yes there is a small amount of drag when spinning the front wheel compared to a standard wheel but nothing you would notice when riding the bike. I'm not certain why they are fitted however, maybe something to do with German law. If the 2016 bikes don't have dynamos maybe their law has been changed ?

Reluctant Cyclist
Cyclezee sell some nice bikes made by Ezee within your budget which are good climbers available in crossbar or low step format. Have you checked with your orthopaedic consultant that cycling is in fact something you should be considering with your spine problems? 50Cycles sell the Groove7 from Kalkoff and you should be able to get finance from them without problem.

Kalkhoff Integrale 8
Might be worth getting a professional bike set up ( about £60 ) to see if there is something wrong with your position on your normal bike especially if you are having back problems. You could then use the data to ensure you have a comfortable position on whatever e-bike you choose. I have a 2015 Kalkoff from the comfort range and have never felt a "knob" riding it so why should you? At the end of the day it comes down to personal preference, but comfort is certainly high on my list of priorities with this type of bike.

Electric Mountain Bikes: No one will buy one?!..
Restricted power bikes are only for those who do not have a full licence i.e. an 'A' rated licence.

Electric Mountain Bikes: No one will buy one?!..
Time for me to stop reading this thread, it is taking up far too much time! Some of it has been entertaining and informative some posts make me despair I personally have sympathy and respect for Col's position which I believe is principled, if only all retailers of these machines were of like mind. I must admit I've never quite understood the need for sooped up e-bikes. If you want to go fast get a full motorcycle licence and then you can indulge in some real power and occasionally scare yourself witless. Or failing that get a good road bike, get fit and then all the speed generated would be down to you - much more satisfying

Electric Mountain Bikes: No one will buy one?!..
Lost-Again, you are new to this forum so welcome ! Secondly try to keep your posts on topic, this thread has nothing to do with the relative merits of mountain bikes VS road bikes. If you post your thoughts in a new topic I'm sure you will get plenty of response.

Why the Bafang mid drive has rekindled my passion for pedelecs
Absolutely no problem, it was my first conversion. Before I started I watched several YouTube videos and read the official Bafang guide. I already had the necessary tools and an engineering background which obviously helped.

seeking advice choosing sub £1k very gutsy climber in Dutch style
Sorry, I thought you wanted a Dutch style bike ? I think the Kreiger and the latest Sant-ana CD share the same motor so should have similar performance.

BBS02 pre-purchase advice
Yes, this would be illegal to ride on the road as a bicycle and you would leave yourself in all sorts of bother should be involved in an accident or be stopped by the boys in blue. Your commute is not very long or particularly hilly, why not just get a BBS01 kit @ 250W which would be legal and you would still arrive at work without a sweat.

Surely Woosh don't need stooges to generate interest in their bikes ?
