Back wheel puncture

Featured Replies

Hi Killjoy, it depends on whether the motor is has hall effect or not and then if there is a speedo on the bike.

I can only talk about Wisper bikes but depending on the model there can be 3, 4 or 8 wires.

On 26" rear wheel drive bikes we use a hall effect motor that has eight wires, three thicker wires that send current to the three phases and five that send signals to the halls.

The 805fe has three wires as there is no throttle.

Our Alpino front wheel drive bikes do not have hall effect motors they use four wires, three phases and one signal for the speedo. Dapu motors do not need the hall effect as much as Bafang motors in our experience and using as few wires as possible offers less chance of a break in connections.

If you need a watertight connector I am sure we can find one for you, they are not expensive.

All the best

I don't suppose a modification kit would be considered feasible at some future stage for DIY or Dealer fitting ?

First things first, I suppose eh ?

Anyway, your active involvement in such matters is much appreciated.

May I endorse the appreciation shown above by rotary? Your interest & involvement is reassuring and doing the Wisper brand proud.

I completely agree.

Thanks Guys, your kind words are much appreciated! It is a two way street though. Most of the upgrades and improvements that have been made to Wisper bikes over the last four or five years have originated from comments made by Pedelec Forum members. I seriously appreciate the input.

I can't see a problem with retro fitting a connector into the motor cable. If you are a deb hand with a soldering iron it would only take half an hour or so.

Best regards

David,

what connector are you using for the 905SEL? I can fit one myself, no worries there.

Karl.

Deb hand? I meant of course dab hand!

The 905sel has a full hall affect motor so has 8 wires, I will ask for some extras to be sent with the next consignment of sel bikes and will put one by for you Karl.

Can you put me down for a connector for 905 as well please, I always think I am going to pull too hard on the cable when trying to get a bit of slack to lift out the wheel.

Thanks

David ... is retrofitting this 905 connector something that the Wisper Dealership would usually do for a non-soldering customer? ... obviously, there would be a charge, I understand that.

Don

Hi Don, I do not imagine it would be an issue, however please wait until I have the parts in before asking them to do it, otherwise I will have a riot on my hands!

Hello,

Does anyone know what is the size of the spanner needed to remove the wheels?

I had to borrow one when I did this and I cannot remember what was the size. I think it was 18mm but not 100% sure... (That is one way of recognizing a newbee :D)

I want to make sure that I have everything.

Thanks,

Thanks a lot. I have found a small and light 18mm that I can keep on the road.

Thanks also for your link, it is very useful. I will make sure to complete my road toolbox!

David,

I don't know how thick the 3 power cores are in the 905 cable but they may be difficult to solder with a domestic soldering iron. If the cable is thick then the wire carries the heat away quickly and the iron isn't powerful enough to heat the solder joint properly. I noticed the problem when I put a new fuse holder in my battery.
