Thanks Pauline, but I hope you don't mean I suggested I want to hide my commercial interest! I certainly don't. :)

Absolutely not! Sorry if it came over in that way. No I took your reluctance to be on the forum too much as due to not wanting to seem too commercially driven on here.

I think though that any contributions from you and other commercial members would be valued by other members and seen for what it is, that is giving your experience to other members and not just a way to advertise your business.

But who are they and which user names are they posting under? I have no idea which bike dealer has four lap-top computers and I don't understand the necessity for cryptic or coded replies. The identity of these individuals is either known or it is not known. If their identity is known, then it should be published otherwise this whole thread and discusion is completely pointless. If their identity is not known and the thread is based on superstition, then it should stop because it is misleading and / or unfair.

So far we have trex who says that he has helps Woosh improve their bikes. Is that it? Does trex own four lap-top computers?

The difficulty is the 'ringers' come and go and use different names, so outing a particular username is of limited value.

I don't think the problem is widespread, but there may have been false posters on here who I've not spotted.

After all, if they are any good at what they do, none of us should be able to spot them.

It's unfortunate for genuine new members who post of their good experience with a particular bike, because they automatically come under suspicion.

The dealer Kudos and I in reply have referred to did that in past and has long appeared to have given up the practice. Since they learnt their lesson and have reformed, I've no wish to belatedly put the boot in by naming them.

In any case I couldn't prove the accusation since posts can get removed and even when not are difficult to locate with the current search facility.

I don't see a big problem now since a few others who didn't declare their trade employment when posting, seem to have disappeared altogether.

I've just remembered a thread in which someone calling themselves jresa was posting bad reviews regarding a bike:

http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/electric-mountain-bikes-no-one-will-buy-one.22070/page-12#post-277344

Most of what he said was removed from the thread. They stopped posting when it was suggested that the moderators looked at jresa's IP address and try to match it against other people who had posted from the same IP address.

Was jresa from a bike company?

I agree, and it's not as if they did it fifty times or anything like that.

But when they start doing it, they do so with regular frequency.

Wow is this an adult forum or one for children? If you're going to say 50 cycles or Kalhoff then just say it.

Adults have lawyers.

Who are the traders who engage in this practice and which user names do they post under? I think it would be useful to know.

If they post from one location with different user names the IP address would show that.

But if they move around or route through various servers then you need to be GHQ to work that one out.

If you see the user name IS, ISIS, ISL or Daesh it's time to take cover.

Forum for adults and children.

But sometimes children have more fun.
