November 5, 20169 yr My old battery cutout yesterday as it has been doing lately(it's on it's way out) so swapped to my spare as usual. When I switched on my ODO had reset to 00000 AAARRRGGGHHH !!!! Earlier this week it had just passed 13'500 miles. I was collecting cycle miles like points and nearly had enough to exchange for a chocolate bar. Any way of reprogramming miles back on quicker than 3 years it took me to put them on? Gutted, to say the least.
November 5, 20169 yr Damn I'd go bonkers if my odo reset almost at 5000 miles in 20 months sorry I don't think you'll have any joy in reprogramming it . Sent from an S6 Edge using Tapatalk
November 5, 20169 yr Do you use strava? I use it to store my miles on two bikes and collectively. I didn't know one could earn a chocolate bar... I have occasionally won a bottle of wine... Although my wife says that's cheating... now where have I heard that before? Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
November 5, 20169 yr my ODO had reset to 00000 Gutted, to say the least. Change your avatar please. It's misleading.
November 5, 20169 yr Author Bike for sale, good as new 00000 genuine miles on the clock. New signature below
November 5, 20169 yr Lol you'll get people coming to you to reset their odo's Sent from an S6 Edge using Tapatalk
November 5, 20169 yr Strange, the odo is stored in the LCD but should be written to an EPROM. Somehow you managed to wipe that by changing a battery??? I use two different batteries and it has no effect on the EPROM also on my old LCD when I plugged it in after a couple of months it still showed the correct number of km.

EPROM ˈiːprɒm/ noun COMPUTING a read-only memory whose contents can be erased by ultraviolet light or other means and reprogrammed using a pulsed voltage. awol just found out the hard way, that is a tremendous achievement, sorry you have lost it all.
November 5, 20169 yr Did you shine one of sw's lamps on it? Seriously don't plug that old battery into anything anymore it is dangerous.
November 5, 20169 yr Maybe even it's in an EEPROM, brings back memories of reprogramming Bosch and Siemens plc's. We used to have a device that we called a budgies sunbed to wipe eproms, got caught out once in the Czech Republic needing to change some code and had to get one of the local techs to take the eprom to the sunbed! Can't actually remember it that was successful or not.
November 5, 20169 yr That's amazing. Nobody has ever figured out how to reset an odo before. There's no way to reset by software, so must be something to do with the battery voltage unless anything else got disrupted when you fixed it.
November 5, 20169 yr My bbs02 LCD odometer reset its total mileage after 1600 miles without reason! Its now got another 3500 miles on .
November 5, 20169 yr Author After collecting 36 miles on my odo over the last couple of days since this. ****** IT GETS WORSE ******* Today the LCD will not switch on at all, it's dead but has battery volts to it !! Had to drive for a change. Might start a new thread on the LCD after I've done some tests.

There's no way to reset by software, so must be something to do with the battery voltage unless anything else got disrupted when you fixed it. I'm almost certain (but not certain enought to try it!) that the ODO on my KTM EStreetP can be reset. On my previous KTM with the same LCD display, I accidentally reset the ODO to 0000.00 but was able to re-enter the mileage which I had earlier noted. Jim
November 5, 20169 yr Author Seriously don't plug that old battery into anything anymore it is dangerous. You got me thinking about when the volts on the old battery get low 32v'ish they tend to bounce a bit and the motor judders which tells me to quickly turn the PAS level down or it cut's out. Also have just looked at the anderson plugs on the batteries/controller and they are black and oxidised which probably didn't help either. So any one of those could have caused a reset by- "and reprogrammed using a pulsed voltage." as quoted by IR772
November 6, 20169 yr FYI. The plug in dongle for my now sold Mercedes Smart bike had a setting which enabled you to set the odometer with any mileage you required . . .
November 6, 20169 yr Author Back up and limping along with no LCD and throttle only. My old battery does not like the throttle (volt sink) but I'm going to eeek out every last drop of energy out of it. I've shorted the red/blue controller wires together (thanks d8veh for info in the past) and fitted the old throttle back on with a realtime volts display, also needed to re-fit a working brake cutoff too. Hopefully I will get this winter out of it all and rebuild next year with all new. Keep on ebiking...
November 6, 20169 yr Author "13'500+ miles ebike'd", really ? Yes, I was at about 13'550 ish and the odo reset to 00000 It's took me 3 years exactly last week.
December 7, 20169 yr Author Woohoo, look what pic I just found. I was sure I'd taken this a few weeks before my LCD went pop. I can feel a new Avatar coming on...
December 8, 20169 yr Your LCD isn't very polite, I read 13001 MILF ... When you shrink it down to avatar size you should be OK but maybe a little bit of Photoshop would clean things up? I once put up a photo of an optimist dinghy and all hell broke loose because with the sun shining through the sail the number looked like a big swastika!
