February 12, 20179 yr after recently purchasing an EBike, in thinking I might need another for my wife so that we can go off together. I can't justify spending new bike money, so thought I would second hand. I'll look to buy one that is still in warranty, but wondered what is considered to be high mileage? I was looking at one with a Yamaha motor, 6 months old with 2000 miles. Does that seem high?
February 12, 20179 yr Author Yeah, it was used as a commuter...80 miles a week. It has also just been serviced. Just need to decide if the money is good
February 12, 20179 yr Work on 500 charges from the battery and 20 miles per charge. That means that the battery is in the worst case 20% worn out. Motors are a bit of an unknown. They haven't been around long enough yet to rack up very high miles.
February 13, 20179 yr Author Thanks, that's a really helpful reply. I was expecting much further from a charge, but I've quickly come to realise that the terrain and setting has a hugh difference to what mileage you can expect.
February 13, 20179 yr 2000 miles is anywhere between 4 chains and barely worn. And similar with cassettes. Disk bakes should be as new. Rim bakes you want to replace anyway with disk. Tires, cheap enough not to worry.
