Derestricting ebike

Featured Replies

For private land obviously.....

There's a method of derestricting that involves moving the sensor and putting a magnet on one of the pedals.

Will this work with the Bosch CX Performance motor (2018)?

Or will it sense something is wrong and bring up an error code and stop working?

Thanks

You need two magnets 180 deg apart. the latest method is to glue them to the drive sprocket and then find some way of holding the sensor so that it can sense them.

Why two magnets?

Why two magnets?

One isn't enough. Pulse frequency is too low. It equates to 5mph at a cadence of 60.

What's in those videos doesn't work. Try it if you don't believe me.

It does on Yamaha!

The Bosch CX works with the Badass deristrictor and ask for the 3x software.

What do you mean by 3 x software? Is 3.4 the latest version?

With the Bosch dongle you can either have x2 software or x3 or another way of explaining is that it divides the speed by two or three, the x3 is the best because there is no cutting out at 50 km-h and the cutoff goes to 75km-h a speed that anyone will find hard to get to.

Thanks. Just watched the video with 2 magnets - quite tricky.

Looks like one magnet wouldn't work on my particular bike.

The Badass clip-on dongle appears simple enough but £££.

Thanks, so the x2 tricks the bike into thinking your only doing half your actual speed, and the x3 makes the bike think your only doing a third of your actual speed?

Yes and when ordering you have to let them know what version you want and they only do it for the Bosch dongle.

Thanks, I didn't realise. Im guessing the x2 would be sufficient as I can't imagine ever being able to pedal to a speed greater than 30mph.

Yes the 50 km-h standard version is enough for most users.
