July 5, 20205 yr Author Thanks Tony , Read quite a few and thinking Bafang mid motor is the way to go, just need to decide on which W to go for any good UK dealers as dealing from China doesn't really float my boat , thanks
July 6, 20205 yr Author So as I've been trawling through billions of threads, quite a few people here use pswpower, where I'm struggling is anyone that's dealt with a Sulcata bike.. I'm fancying this setup, any good ?? http://www.pswpower.com/ven.php?cargo.2017-61-s29r http://www.pswpower.com/ven.php?cargo.2017-8r-jdnp Again, all help appreciated
July 6, 20205 yr I have used them with no problem in the past. It appears postage is quite dear when I look at the whole price, they never use to be. CS may be lacking should an issue arise so like many China seller you take your chance.
July 6, 20205 yr Author well i bought the above, wish me luck, no doubt I'll be back with problems/ issues
July 10, 20205 yr Author Today received my bbs02b mid drive motor & battery, couple of issues, 1. There isnt enough thread for the M33 locknut to attach too, is this ok to leave off?? also the battery is going to be a struggle due to the bottle holes in the wrong place ( too low down the bar ) the carrera's mid section isnt the biggest so placing the battery with enough room to then take off will be touch
July 10, 20205 yr holes can be drilled and rivnuts inserted quite easily. If you can at least get battery on, do you need to take off regularly? If not it wont be an issue. If you mean the second part of the locking mechanism on the crank then you can get away with thread lock like I did. There are pics on my recent bbshd project Hope this helps.
July 10, 20205 yr You can leave the locknut off if you use Loctite on the main nut and do it up tight.

I went through your whole thread, nice bike and build ... Not sure about that bike ride from Heywood to Blackstone edge haha. Felt tired reading it
July 11, 20205 yr Author All good, feels amazing to ride, only bug bear the the noise the brakes now make when I stop is awful, no doubt it's a tweak
July 11, 20205 yr Change the brakes to hydraulic. They'll be a hundred times better You can get decent used ones on Ebay for about £40 a pair. they only take a few minutes to fit as long as you buy them with the hose attached to the lever and the caliper.
July 11, 20205 yr It's better to get branded ones like Tektro, Juicy, Shimano, Avid, hayes, magura, etc, Avoid unbranded, Zoom and Clarkes. be careful that they're genuine. Any set coming from China for less than £40 is unlikely to be genuine. Search by those each of those brand names to filter out all the crap. One thing to loo out for is the shape. On some, the gubbins on the levers runs close to the bars, and if you have other stuff on the bars, like a throttle, they don't fit. Have a look at what's on your bars and then look at the shape of the ones that you're thinking of buying, just to be sure. These look OK https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-TEKTRO-HD-M275-Hydraulic-Disc-Brake-MTB-Bike-Brake-Set-Front-Rear-Black/324207231177?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item4b7c41c0c9:g:-CIAAOSwNpZe8aZJ&enc=AQAFAAACcBaobrjLl8XobRIiIML1V4Imu%2Fn%2BzU5L90Z278x5ickk5v8gVt3hEWLVg%2F253w6XCe8tfmMWyb06IQ51E9rhN%2B1nnYT3K%2FFzJxGrKDCtoOK4Smiwbx%2B0VBYsuNcRJa3N0ybDvw3NLtdWAdPt20jCuW2hqHjq8v8U7jMVb7NvlmSOvh1GWzxiRI2vS4%2FbLdNSq7zKDUXOiZ3P25vEH3up0WfuT4U6GTG3IWjSFx85nhs01%2FUCaWH21Sgxrk2UYQstsTpx4HuSWzPw%2B3HemY5f3BR1J1%2BHMTw8De%2BmsWrA6gf8kYFgrPYgU1MyznOwD71HoAmEEw8STH9ZqelrhoKDOJ1V4CzLS7loOzcz7We8ziMpbNSIk3X1gZBsCBvD3xAfb%2BbvnS0h7yp7yhQTDx3fOvFcfJ4LrfnrGwC2AYIGEP86eq6GKPdlItbnUj9QFRm2RNWVMhbv6Q%2BIyrzJYzSVzUh4Q4TcPNsoKX9AQXhusnQCiqioMSupaD6oN%2FZjrtoVb49ihaXxYR3Uv%2BrQDIGBxBrOSyCtlbrUK0ruGh56KwpichLWlNwRtGpRrHumhuHfz2otYBTrKh6CHWoz0AoKHzpcaCbS6Gwka0TU0z4V8Sv%2BJeIYTZhp36a9tFYlnqMJH44ir9ArQHk8cAdixF1hGNfbioN2t9WVtI0rNt1%2Bbq%2BBmkY%2B7bIT0DIK9rBKfUp9%2BGn7LcIv4ZyqtI%2FXmfzzx%2BqM2MSQmHUo9d4nrqnhv7IbZnHmGS9RGb7GOFo27JBd%2FaPNPURdDEvEIyigROHwZNkLIAwPZawMPESOezijwevnP%2B6cIQOoopCSIP%2FllU%2Ftmw%3D%3D&checksum=324207231177f7230d4924dc4574a54c6528e0b04e0c I must admit that I prefer the Shimano M766 integrated shifters/hydraulic brakes, that I fit on all my bikes. They're only 9 x 3 speeds. I always make sure that I have a spare pair in stock for my next build. Whenever I use a pair, I start trawling Ebay for the next one. I usually pay about £40 each. You can see enough room for the thumb throttle, right where you want it:
July 12, 20205 yr Author Would these not be any good from pswpower ?? As they fit the kit I have ?? http://www.pswpower.com/ven.php?cargo.2019-3s-rbvm
July 12, 20205 yr Would these not be any good from pswpower ?? As they fit the kit I have ?? http://www.pswpower.com/ven.php?cargo.2019-3s-rbvm Hmmm! It depends how much $40 is worth to you. They could be worth a try. You get a lot for your money and at least we'd find out if they're any good.

July 12, 20205 yr Yeh you will find it cuts the power to the motor when you brake and that symbol light up. Glad you are enjoying the bike.
